    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ADM (Mexico, MO) in June 2015.

    Interview

Received a phone call for an initial interview which involved a basic overview about my resume. I then traveled to them for an in-person interview and it was very laid back and similar to the phone interview with a tour of the lab area.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at ADM (Chicago, IL) in June 2015.

    Interview

First, there was an interview with the HR rep. Second was a group interview with a "case study" to produce a power point presentation in 30 min. I felt like I did a great job, considering the pressure and time constraints. But, after a month and no response at all from them, I decided to ask and got a generic auto-reply saying that they had "moved on." It wasn't a good experience.

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at ADM (Springfield, IL).

    Interview

Interviewed at school. Initial communication at career fair, follow up interview at career center. Selected within 48 hours for final interview with upper management. Flown to Indiana for field interview at local mid-sized grain elevator. All planning excellent including flights and hotel. Transportation between airport, hotel and interview location quite painful via hired shuttle (shuttles fault, not ADM). Lunch provided, tour of facility by friendly manager. Interviewed by three managers with open ended questions not much lead. Overall pleasant experience.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ADM.

    Interview

I had applied online for a PhD level Scientist position in the strain engineering department at ADM, Decatur IL. I heard back from the hiring manager around 2-3 weeks later, saying he was interested in setting up a phone interview within the next couple of weeks. I scheduled a time and attended the phone call- there were 3 people on the phone conference. They mostly asked me questions about my previous experience and skills, mostly pretty general technical questions to which I gave what seemed like satisfactory answers. There were no specific technical questions like "What did you do when you observed xxx" etc. The only non-technical question was what do you bring to ADM other than your technical expertise. Mostly it felt as if they were satisfied with my answers and they even mentioned that my profile is impressive a couple of times and hinted as if they would be interested in inviting me for an on-site interview. I emailed the hiring manager a couple of days later, emphasizing my interest in the position. A week later, he replied that he is not inviting me for an on-site interview right now, but will let me know if that decision changes in the near future. I thought this was weird as I don't understand what would make them change their decision.
