Interviewed Jul 2009 in Decatur, IL (took 2 days)
Was notified that they wanted to interview me about 6 days before the actual interview. First interview was with a 3-person panel, then an HR representative, with about an hour spent with each. Questions were generally about my background and past experience with some behavioral questioning. Got feedback about 5 days later that they wanted to interview me a second time. Second interview lasted an hour with the same 3-person panel and included a short plant tour. Questioning was much tougher at second round and focused on my knowledge of the company and basic operations in a plant environment. Waited about 2 weeks to hear back that I didn't get the offer. ADM's interviews were really based on getting to see if you 'fit' in their culture. Are you committed to the company, detail-oriented, and organized? Being from Central Illinois, especially Decatur, will win you big bonus points.

Interviewed Mar 2009 in Decatur, IL (took 2 days)
The hiring process was very unorganized. I got a phone call to be onsite and requested an agenda and background on the hiring manager and the business he represented within ADM. I received no feedback before the interview. There were 4 candidates interviewed on the same day.
I had no specific expereince in the food industry and was treated as an outcast from the very beginning. My technical background was much stronger than the other candidates but the questioning during lunch and during the panel interview was all related to who I knew in the food industry and why ADM was superior to all the others. I never had a chance and the interview was merely a formality.
It pays to have a connection within ADM. it pays be a local who fits in with the "culture" in Decatur. (rural mentality whose most important thing is working at ADM)
