Interviewed Apr 2012 in Middleton, Lancashire, North West England, England (United Kingdom) (took 4+ weeks)
Initally saw the advertisement in the ALDI store and went on to apply online. The interview consisted of a group interview (25 people). The interviewer divided 25 people to 5 different group. There was a group task. Then there was sell me type presentation, where the interviewer assigned the group a product to sell to him. Then there was a quick 10 minutes mathematical aptitude test, the level of it was of below GCSE level. After that the final round was question and answer session, where anyone can answer questions asked by the interview. The questions were specifically aimed at ALDI business model, store management etc. Finally an opportunity was given to ask questions to interviewer.
The job was not interesting because of very low salary (starting £23,000) and reaching maximum of £30,000 after 3 years. The interviewer clearly mentioned that there would be no promotion in this job. In his word, this is the glass ceilings. Physical and mental strength also needed to carry out this job. The promotion within the company are only given to college graduates who joined the company as Area Manager.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Detroit, MI (took 2 months)
Going thru the interview process, was awesome. I met some outstanding people that were being interview and that work for the company. I really felt I had a great shot at working for a great company. After the forth interview, which consisted of luch and a store tour, i was ready to sign on the dotted line. But they contacted me, and said they found someone with a better fit. No hard feelings though!

Interviewed Jun 2008 (took 4+ weeks)
I was referred to the company by a recruiter. She got me in contact with the District Manager and we arranged a time to meet at a nearby store. The initial interview lasted about 75 minutes, but part of this time was spent filling out the application. I was then referred to the Director of Operations for an interview, but it was probably 2-3 weeks after my first interview. They were very straight forward interviews. I detailed my previous jobs and talked about my strengths and weaknesses. It was a more formal interview than I had with some other companies, but no "curve-ball" questions. Even though it was formal, everyone I spoke with was friendly and professional.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Springfield, MA (took 4 weeks)
I stopped at the store and filled out a application. I called a few days later and they told me someone would contact me if they wanted an interview. I was called two weeks later for a interview. I attended the interview and a week later i received a phone message that they hires someone else with more experience. The interview that I had was with a District Manager who really didn't ask too many questions and it only lasted 20 minutes.

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Kingston, NY (took 2 days)
The Regional Manager who interviewed me was very polite and supportive with his words. He was also sympathetic with some negative experiences I related to him at my current job. He came across as an experienced Manager and as a true professional. Unfortunately, I was considered to be overqualified for the job. He expressed his concerned with my desire to continue my education since the position I applied for required me to be available from 5am to 10pm if necessary. Overall, he showed me the respect and consideration I expected from a successful German company.
