Interviewed Feb 2011 in Frisco, TX (took 1 week)
You are contacted by a supervisor/manager for a phone screening interview. Basically this consists of the basic, why do you want to work there, etc. Then it is on to a 1:1 interview with a General Manager of a theatre. Again same basic questions, but with some new ones such as how would you handle a particular situation. Then one last interview with another GM, same basic questions.

Negotiation Details
I negotiated because I had previous management experience. They cap you off at 80% the position value, so for an OPS manager 11.25 an hour. You can get up to 13.50 an hour if you are qualified and eventually get raises.
Other Details
I Applied Online and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview, a 1:1 Interview, an IQ/Intelligence Test, a Personality Test and a Background Check.

Interviewed Oct 2008 (took 3 weeks)
I submitted my resume and within a week I was asked to interview with the GM. That interview was about a week later (from turning in resume). It lasted maybe 15 minutes and went smoothly. He told me he'd submit my name to be interviewed by his boss (the Regional Manager.) Roughly a week later I got a call to set up an interview with him. That interview was a little more intense. He asked for more specific examples of how I saved my last employer money and ideas/programs that I came up with that failed. A little over a week and a half later I got a call from the GM offering me the job.
As far as the culture, it's a mixed bag. The last theatre I worked at we had to wear suits. (Avoid at all costs. Have you ever tried to get butter and soda out of blazer?) At AMC even the RM wore the same uniform of a long-sleeve AMC shirt and dark trousers. AMC policy is that you refer to the GM and mgrs. by their first name, but there are a few that still insist on "Mr." or "Ms". AMC managers typically reward hard work, but not as much when the decisions are made by corporate. (For GM positions, etc.) AMC tries to be more fair to employees by offering health insurance even to part-time employees and bonuses all the way down to the lowest managers, but they are still the typical greedy company when it comes to pay. AMC pays average minimum wage for floor-staff and not a lot higher for managers and they (as well as every other cinema) has edged their way into being classified as "Entertainment Industry" for pay regulations. This means if you work overtime, they will only pay you your regular hourly rate, not the typical time and half.

Negotiation Details
Not really. I was told the pay would be between $9-14 an hour. When I was offered the job by the GM, I was told what pay the RM had decided on. ($10). I told the GM I'd like $11 and he came back and said no. There was no direct communication with the RM except for the interview 1-2 weeks before.
Other Details
I Applied Online and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview.
