Interviewed Feb 2008 in Austin, TX (took a day)
My recruiter worked with the hiring manager to arrange for my interview. The whole process goes pretty smoothly. They asked some basic questions, not very deep. The only thing is that after the on-site interview, they didn't gave me a quick response. It turned out that they were interviewing several other peoples and try to decided which one is the best. I communicated to them that I cannot wait very long and I am considering other opportunities. Immediately the HR manager called me up and told me that I was their best candidate and made the offer.

Interviewed May 2010 in Austin, TX (took a day)
Very technical interview made up of many one-on-one interviews. Each hour-long one-on-one focused on a different topic, ranging from c++ to memory models. Most of the interview I was on the defensive, answering questions. I did not have much time to ask questions and left the day without a clear idea of what job I would be doing or how the company worked.

i'd worked there before, so they had a good word from my former manager and colleagues. but they asked the most ticky-tack detail-oriented questions, the kind of stuff that reference texts and google were made for. my experience in solving problems, innovating and leading people were disregarded; instead the decision made on arcane syntax questions about programming languages.

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Austin, TX (took a day)
Phone interviews were brief, about thirty minutes with half of that being technical questions. Once I was invited for an on-site interview the process was to have one on one interviews with six different engineers from the overall group with the job opening. Each of those interviews was 45 minutes to an hour long. Very technical, but not aggressive. Overall I thought all of the engineers I met were very bright and it would have been a great place to work had an offer been extended after my interview.

Interviewed May 2007 in Austin, TX (took 2+ weeks)
The interview process started with a phone call from the technical recruiter who walked me through the position details. This followed by email conversations and a phone interview with one of the section head managers. The phone interview was medium difficult. The questions ranged from behavioural to technical covering all aspects of the position. This was followed by an all day interview on site. The people were pretty friendly and nice to speak with. On-site interview was medium to high difficulty based on the the interviewer but was not out of line with the job expectations.

Interviewed Oct 2007 in Austin, TX (took a day)
Hiring process not very complicated. Submitted resume to a Fellow at AMD who passed it along to the appropriate hiring manager. Background fit so I got a call and scheduled an interview.
The interview was long and VERY technical. I believe there 7 or 8 1 on 1 interviews, beginning with the hiring manager who just went over the basics and asked if I had questions. Then the fun began. One after another, 7 more people, all technical, interviewed me. The questions were basic, but you had to know your undergrad engineering quite well.
Some questions as I remember them:
1) Basics of inverter in/out curves
2) Logical reduction
3) Device stacking (pros/cons, tapering, total width)
4) device physics (nmos cross section, channel, saturation, DIBL)

Negotiation Details
Negotiation wasn't too bad. They wanted to know current salary, which I did tell them since the initial offer was only 2k more than current salary. In all, I got less than a 10% bump up in pay. It was mostly me telling the recruiter why I should be paid more.
Other Details
The interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview and a Drug Test.
