Interviewed May 2010 in Markham, ON (Canada) (took a day)
I First explained about the algorithm I developed in image processing for video frame rate up-conversion. The technical interviewer tested my knowledge on video compression standards and he was quite impressed about it. Then I was asked to write a C test and I said I developed all of my algorithms in MATLAB for the past two years and did not have any exposure to C in the past five years (I indicated that in my resume). It turned off the hiring manager right away and I didn't get the job!

Interviewed Nov 2009 in Markham, ON (Canada) (took a day)
Interviewed for a Board Program Management Internship. Interview surprised me because it was with 3 senior managers, all working in various sub-depts of BPM at AMD. Work is very fast paced, and they are looking for creative and intelligent people to keep up. I would rate this as a difficult interview because they play question tag and most of the questions are behavioral based, but difficult ones.

Interviewed Apr 2008 in Toronto, ON (Canada) (took 2 days)
Contacted by HR representative.
Relatively standard interview. Started off with a description of the job, followed by a detailed explanation of the organization and where the job fit in the organization. Some technical questions involving object oriented programming.
Second interview more technical, software and hardware style questions.

Interviewed Jan 2008 in Markham, ON (Canada) (took 2+ weeks)
Was a 3 step process. First a phone interview with HR, basically meaningless chit chat to prove you have some relevant experience. Second Phone Interview with hiring manager and lead software architect. Third face to face interview with the same.
Asked some basic technical questions but were more interested in my demeanor and willingness to learn. This is very different from team to team at AMD.

Interviewed Jun 2009 in Markham, ON (Canada) (took a day)
It was quite straight forward. The main interviewer asked a few circuit questions. I had previous summer experience working as a board designer for a power company, so he was quite impressed with that. He looked through my transcripts and asked a few questions about a few courses that are relevant to the job (which I later found out while working there). He later asked me if there are other positions at AMD that I would want to go for, beside the one I am being interviewed for.
I received the offer a week later.

Interviewed Nov 2009 in Markham, ON (Canada) (took 2 weeks)
Be prepared to answer lots of technical questions. I interviewed for many AMD positions and saw the same test a few times. This was for a 16month intership for Professional Experience Year with the University of Toronto. The interviewers were all fairly young and usually very friendly and helpful throughout some touch technical questions. Come prepared and you will ace the interview.
