Interviewed Jan 2008 in Markham, ON (took 2+ weeks)
Was a 3 step process. First a phone interview with HR, basically meaningless chit chat to prove you have some relevant experience. Second Phone Interview with hiring manager and lead software architect. Third face to face interview with the same.
Asked some basic technical questions but were more interested in my demeanor and willingness to learn. This is very different from team to team at AMD.

Interviewed Jun 2009 in Markham, ON (took a day)
It was quite straight forward. The main interviewer asked a few circuit questions. I had previous summer experience working as a board designer for a power company, so he was quite impressed with that. He looked through my transcripts and asked a few questions about a few courses that are relevant to the job (which I later found out while working there). He later asked me if there are other positions at AMD that I would want to go for, beside the one I am being interviewed for.
I received the offer a week later.

Interviewed Dec 2009 in Fort Collins, CO (took a day)
I was applying for a co-op in presilicon verification group. After the greeting, start directly on the technical questions. I was able to answer most of them. Questions are mostly related to computer architecture and verilog, like cache questions. After the technical questions, we went through my resume and asked questions about my research and work experiences. At the end, I asked several questions about the project they are working on.

Interviewed Nov 2009 in Markham, ON (took 2 weeks)
Be prepared to answer lots of technical questions. I interviewed for many AMD positions and saw the same test a few times. This was for a 16month intership for Professional Experience Year with the University of Toronto. The interviewers were all fairly young and usually very friendly and helpful throughout some touch technical questions. Come prepared and you will ace the interview.

Interviewed Jan 2007 in Sunnyvale, CA (took a day)
This may not be the usual interview story. It started back then when I was close to finishing with my degree. I got a phone call from, someone who knew my accademic advisor, pretty much asking me "can you do this next month?" and then "what is your ideal job" . This landed me back to back internships. So, when the "full time job" interview came I was already working there for about 9 months. Althugh it was more of a formality, I did get asked tough questions related to my field during a 1:1 interview. While I was an intern, there were also a few presentations for the whole group; I'd say those were part of the interview as well.

Interviewed Mar 2008 (took a day)
I had a phone interview which lasted for about 30 minutes in which a senior design engineer interviewed me. He mostly went over my resume and gauged my experience. Later in 2 weeks i got a call from the HR person and an onsite was scheduled. The onsite interview consisted of 6 rounds. The first was with the HR person with a look over of company benefits, etc. After which different people from the team interviewed me. 2 managers interviewed me to see if I could be a fit for either team.

Interviewed Oct 2007 (took 3 weeks)
The interviewing process consisted of a phone screen with the Hiring Manager and then a month later I was asked to fly into Austin and had 5 face-to-face interviews with peers and the Hiring Manager.
Having a complete portfolio of my marketing accomplishments and asking for the job, at the conclusion of the interviews won me the job offer.

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Austin, TX (took a day)
Phone interviews were brief, about thirty minutes with half of that being technical questions. Once I was invited for an on-site interview the process was to have one on one interviews with six different engineers from the overall group with the job opening. Each of those interviews was 45 minutes to an hour long. Very technical, but not aggressive. Overall I thought all of the engineers I met were very bright and it would have been a great place to work had an offer been extended after my interview.
