Interviewed Sep 2009 in Reston, VA (took 3 weeks)
I interviewed over the phone with a recruiter and then proceeded with a one one interview wtih VP Talent Management. It was apparent the person really did not know what they were looking for in an HR person and they were more fishing about background and experience.

Interviewed May 2010 in Dulles, VA (took a day)
A contracting company contacted me for a position that was a short term contract. The manager at AOL contacted me and interviewed me over the telephone. All went well with the interview and we both decided that there might be a match. The outcome was that they determined that there would be no need for an interim person since the time it would take to get the paperwork completed and all approvals acquired would be another 3 weeks.

I got the interview through a Staffing Agency and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview.

Interviewed Jan 2007 in Ashburn, VA (took 1+ week)
HR contacted did a cursory phone interview. Had two on site interviews 1:1 with manager which was to breif me of the job details and gage my communication skills, attitude etc.
The second interview was with several team members doing the work. Much more technical and very specific questions on problem solving, logical thinking and people issues under pressure. In situation X how would you solve this, What if the problem looked like X & Y, how would you determine which the problem was. Unix comman line, Tomcat and Apache configuration. SSL configuration of Wen and Java application.
