Compensation Manager Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
The process took a day - interviewed at APL in October 2009.
Interview Details – 3rd Party Recruiting Firm conducted the inital phone screen.
Met with 3 managers within the business area - the departing manager (who is not relocating) and 2 more senior managers in the group. The position this reports to is not yet filled.
People are nice, but HR does not appear to be the most sophosticated here.
Foreign ownership seems to pose significant challenges with leadership's ability to be effective.
Interview Question – Most interview questions were geared at technical proficiency/knowledge in the field. View Answer
Reason for Declining – Foreign Ownership (Singaporian) issues. Management was approproately honest and transparent with the challenges, however managing in an organization is difficult enought without foreign ownership issues getting in the way. Comp is not competitive.
