Interviewed Sep 2009 in Cambridge, MA (took 2 weeks)
I was screened by an independent recruiter and then was put on a short list of 12 people. I was the first person interviewed. Since I had previously worked for a direct competitor, most questions had to do with my role and the product design issues of that company. Many of the questions had to do with how much I knew about AT&T Connect. In my previous role, I had performed extensive product research on AT&T Connect and the hiring manager was surprised that I knew so much about the division, including the amount of their annual revenue. While the process of how they define requirements, perform market research, and scope and commit to product development projects was the same as how I performed it in my previous role; I believe the hiring manager only wanted to collect information about my previous employer and how I performed my job and not hire me as its possible he may have not been comfortable hiring someone older and more experienced than him. He told me he was going to call me back for a 2nd interview but I never heard back from the recruiter or him. Its also possilble that the job req was not able to be filled now. I think the two roles(Project Manager and Product Manager) have been floating out there for at least 6 months. Its possible the company may be delaying in hiring for these two positions.
