Interviewed Jul 2010 in Minneapolis, MN (took 2 weeks)
There was two positions advertised. One did not exist when I interviewed for it .
It was the typical financial services position. Give us a lot of business and we will not give you much in return.
The people advertising the jos were friendly and helpful and the office had a good atmosphere. It was the hiring manager that had a very negative attitude.
Obviously, there was a lack of communication from some source regarding the actual positions advertised.

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Portland, OR (took 3 weeks)
Orientation comes first, where the EVP will promise a six-figure income. Then there are 4 more interviews, which are more like sales presentations for the position. Don't worry about the interview process, it's more like you're interviewing them. No college degree or experience required.

Interviewed May 2010 in New York, NY (took 3 weeks)
I applied to the position through my university's career website. In the first interview, I met with the leader of the financial advisor team that I would potentially be a part of. The interviewee was young, relax and easy to talk to. He explained that the position had a high failure rate and that a successful candidate must possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit and an ability to prevail through failure. After assuring him that I possessed both of these traits, he immediately asked me to come back for a second interview.
In the second interview, an executive joined the original interviewee in conducting a series of more direct questions that pertained to the selling aspects of the position. Like the first interview, though, the atmosphere was very relaxed. At the end of their questioning--which took no longer than 15 minutes and could have been regarded as a conversation--they open the floor for me to ask particular questions about the position and the company. I asked a lot of pertinent, in-depth questions that impressed the executive and as a result, I was invited back for a third and final interview.
Before going into my third interview, I was told to structure a client base. I put a lot of thought into the question and came into the interview with a prepared presentation. During the interview, I met only with the executive. A minute into presenting my client base to the executive, he stopped me and said that it was good and that he would like to offer me a position. From there, he spelled out the pre-contract and contract phases of employment. After a week of contemplating the offer, I declined.

Interviewed Aug 2009 in Denver, CO (took 1+ week)
interview consisted of a screening by an HR person followed by 1 on 1 interview by team leader in the insurance sales area. The interview was about sales experience, business experience, and approach to making contacts to sell insurance products.
The day of the interview - it was a major snowstorm. i arrived to the interview early - and there was no one at the front desk and i had to call the cell phone of the interviewer to let him know i had arrived. I wasn't offered any coffee or water to start the interview.
The interviewer only had a brochure with which to show the company's products - and no examples of sales presentations or other materials. The phone interview with the HR person made no mention of the job function - which was primarily to sell insurance and not any other of the company's financial products. It was also not explained that there was no base salary or benefits with the job. i considered the position advertised on the job site to be a "bait and switch" compared to the position I discussed with the interviewer.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
The "job" included no base compensation or benefits. The position relied totally on building a recurring revenue stream from selling life insurance products - and most persons hired end up leaving within a year. 70% of initial hires drop out within 2 years. The company does not invest in classes for the new employee, nor is there any marketing support or selling support to help establish the new employee.

Interviewed May 2010 (took 5 days)
I spoke briefly with the current Marketing Assistant and then was called for an interview a few days later. The interview went great - but this is a small branch. They are not looking to hire anyone who is planning on upward mobility. Also, it turns out the job is not so much marketing assistant, as your typical customer service rep, handling the calls and tracking paperwork. I had all the experience for his position, but in the end, the salary was too low for not seeming to provide tremendous resume/career benefits. Very nice office and group of people, though. They asked a lot of questions that reveal personality: "At the end of a long day, how do you relax?" and "Tell us something we won't know now, but could be surprised about in 6 months?" or something like that. Other than that, they wanted to know what kind of other jobs I had been looking at, skills, assets, things I need to work on, etc...

Interviewed Apr 2010 (took 2 months)
This interview process was very long and pointless in my personal opinion. There was a few times where the interviewer came late or didn't even show up at all to the interview. There was a few times where I had to reschedule. They seem somewhat professional. Overall I ended up excepting the offer because of the economy right now but fortunately I still have a few other options just in case something happens that doesn't sit to well with me.

Interviewed Mar 2010 in Columbia, MD (took a day)
Applied online and received a call back in a timely fashion. Interview went very smoothly about 45 minutes with the hiring manager. The office is rated #1 among the company in the US and seemed very nice. Managers and workers all very friendly. Ask a lot of questions about the company and you'll be fine.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Roanoke, VA (took 2 weeks)
Office was beautiful downtown.
I was more than qualified for this job, but rather than remember my name, I overheard my interviewer refer to me as the "9:30 person" rather than my actual name.
The 2 person panel interview was casual, very interactive and seemingly honest interview process.
Essentially, if you need an entry-level commission job, apply.
