Interviewed Oct 2011 in Abbott Park, IL (took a day)
The interview consisted of two, 30 minute interviews. Both of the interviews were with one interviewer. Th questions asked were strictly behavioral, along the lines of "tell me about a time when...?" There was no planned office visit, offers were made right after the interviewers.

Interviewed Mar 2009 in North Chicago, IL (took 2 weeks)
I applied online for the position and an HR specialist contacted me a few weeks later. I had a phone interview with the HR specialist, who was nice and professional, that focused on my skills and work experience. Shortly afterwards, I was asked to come in for a face-to-face interview. The interview began with a timed skills test in which I had to write a brief news release and answer questions about how I would handle various PR/communications situations.
I then met with the director of PR for that division, along with another man who worked in some sort of quality assurance position. From there on, the interview went downhill. What the job actually was--communicating to employees why a plant was being closed and why they were going to lose their jobs--was much different than the job description, which had emphasized media relations. The hiring manager kept glancing at her watch and drumming her fingers and it was obvious that I was not going to be considered for the position, A few days later, I got the rejection email.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in North Chicago, IL (took a day)
I found out that I had to interview for this position while I was interning. I originally thought that I wouldn't have to do that. I was contacted by someone in HR asking if I was interested in interviewing, I said yes. From there I had more than a month to prepare for my interview and believe me, that's what I spent a lot of my downtime doing. As an intern, as there's no other way to describe it, I feel head over heels in love with Abbott. Great culture, very supportive, you are treated very well, interesting working assignments, I could go on... Anyway, I flew to Chicago to interview around when Abbott hosts an annual intern event, Abbott House (they like to kill two-birds with one stone whenever possible). I was interviewed by three different people, but it was all one-on-one. Each interview was 30 minutes. I can tell you honestly, if you go over 30 minutes, it means you're doing good because (at least hopefully) you're connecting with your interviewers.

Negotiation Details
I probably could have negotiated, but I did not think it was prudent. Mainly because coming straight out of undergrad, you are getting a sweet offer. Think about it... Within the context of becoming a PDP (someone in their professional development program), you're starting at a great salary and all you really are for 2 years before you get placed is a glorified intern. Their benefits are crazy cool too; a LOT better than most other companies. If you get an offer, take it!

I got the interview through a Recruiter and the interview consisted of a Group/Panel Interview, a Drug Test and a Background Check.

Interviewed Apr 2010 in Waukegan, IL (took 2 weeks)
Very thorough followup by the HR- from calling to emailing, the recruiter contacts you about every detail, which is really great in my opinion. From reserving the flight to details of the orientation, Abbott HR contacts you weeks in advance of the start date! They offer paid stay in Marriott courtyard during the 3-month internship, and grad students can get their own studio there. Many perks to being an intern at abbott.

A recruiter connected me about an contract statistican job from abbott in Chicago which last for about 6 months. The recruiter passed my resume to the company. They first gave me a phone interview. Two people interviewed me during the phone, some basic question about my current project. Then after about one week, they asked for a on-site. Interviewed Oct 2010 in Des Plaines, IL (took 3 months)
I was contacted by HR a month after I had applied. They set up an HR phone interview and an on-site interview with the hiring manager. The HR phone interview consisted of the normal situational questions and why I want to work at Abbott, chose my major, etc. The on-site interview consisted of a one on one with the hiring manager who explained the technical aspects, and then a panel interview with peers of the position I was interviewing for who ask more situational/standard interview questions. I then was offered a final round interview with the head of the department. I haven't gone on this yet so we shall see.

Interviewed Jul 2009 in Chicago, IL (took a day)
Plan to spend an entire day. Interview with three directors as well as at least four group members. The process consists only of 1x1 discussions, although that is managed by the STAR interviewing method. Interview personnel are objevtive and they get to the point. Everyone is very polite because that is the Abbott culture. Depending on the director you will be reporting to, the hiring decision may be made solely by that director or it may be made as a group consensus. Also depending on the situation, you may or may not get called back for a second interview - but you could get hired with just the single interview.

I was provides a very attractive offer, so I did not feel any need to negotiate. The salary range is wide, however, and it is based on the experience you have with auditing FDA regulated facilities. Recent experience and more direct experience will command a higher salary.
