Interviewed Aug 2010 (took 2+ weeks)
I had an interview for Accenture Management Consulting, One of the Big 4 Consulting firm in the world. I had the interview for Gurgaon or Mumbai Location in 2010. In India Accenture function for their Management Consulting division from these two offices.
The job position was of Management Consultant and the profile was of "Planning of Large Scale Projects Building in Power, Oil& Gas , Mineral & Mining Sector". Recently they have started giving consulting to very big names in there core sector in India.
For this profile in most of the job portal their prefered requirement is B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical/ Civil Engineering with min 5 yrs work ex in Project Management/Project Planning in setting up large scale projects + MBA form tob B-School or atleast PMP certification.
I am a Mechaincal Engineer with more than 5 years of work ex in Project Management profile in setting up large scale Power and Steel Plant projects for two of big name in India.
I had the required work-ex however didnt have other qualification like MBA of PMP.
I have received a call regarding this profile from a Job consultant and my 1st round of telephonic interview scheduled after two days.
After two days the 1st round of telephonic interview taken by one Senior Manager. The interview last for one and half hour and it was in very detail regarding all concepts of Project Planning. Setting up in steel & power projects, on scheduling tools like Primavera and Ms. Project.
After two days i was informed by the Accenture HR that I am through with the 1st round and the 2nd round of telephonic interview will be taken after 5 days. but on the scheduled day and time for 2nd interview I didnt received the call. later when I enquired with teh HR, she said may be the person was busy at that time. after 3 days again the 2nd round of telephonic interview was scheduled after 5 days.
The 2nd round of telephonic interview was taken by a Senior manager from Gurgaon office. It was last for more than 1.5 Hour and it comparises of all related to practical aspect of planning in setting up large scal projects and many case studies.
After the interview the Hr informed that if i will be through 2nd round they will call for 3rd & final round for face-face with top management.
But after 4 days i was informed by the HR at this moment they cant process my profile further. She informed that I was through 2nd round but profile is on hold.
So this was the most ambigous part of the interview process.
Regarding the people and company brand its the best. It will give the best exposure into consulting with top brands as client. Also I gather info that they pay very high but the work involves extensive travelling to many plant site locations.
But the most confusing part is the way the selection process ended. So like most of the people say once you joined Accenture then only you can say you are inside Accenture. And once you are there it wil give u immense exposure. But many ppl are not sure what really happedn during the selection procedure.

Interviewed Mar 2009 in New York, NY (took 3 days)
There were 3 interviews in the first round with Consultants, focused on basic case work and demonstrating analytical skills. After the first round the notification for second round came a few hours later. Second round was two case interviews with Senior Executives and then a fit interview with a Senior Manager in my target practice.

Interviewed Feb 2009 (took 2 weeks)
I applied to the job online. They contacted me by email and then also by phone were they instructed me about the generall interview process, place and location of the interview. Very formal. The 1:1interviews were actually not that stressful as I thought. The discussion consisted mostly about me as person and discussions about my master thesis.

Interviewed Mar 2008 in New York, NY (took 4 weeks)
I applied online to a listing posted on my business school's career website. Accenture contacted me saying that I was selected for an interview and we set up a 1st round interview. I had 2 first round phone interviews which were part behavioral, but mainly each was a case. After those 2, we set up a day of 2nd round interviews at the NY office with comprised of 3 interviews (over 3 hours), all of which included cases. The office was nothing special, and none of the people I interviewed with were from the NY office. The styles were different from person to person, but that was more a function of the people than of the process. From a straight, formal case interview, to a conversation about behavioral questions with a mini-case and a more informal case discussion with a Sr. Exec.

Negotiation Details
I was weighing the offer against a non-consulting offer, so the question for me was more about consulting or not, not Accenture or not.
