The interview process took three rounds. It looked like a good fit. I was offered the role, I accepted it, but they later pulled the offer back.
Glad I did not resign from my old (and still current job).
The HR rep apologized numerous times, I felt it reflected badly on them.

I had applied online to the site a while back and on LinkedIn for a specific position as a Project Manager. A few days later, I was contacted by an Accenture recruiter who received my information and said she found my information in the database and thought the position was a great fit for me. We discussed the role and my background and the company and the division for about 30 minutes. It went really well. She explained to me the recruiting process, which typically consists of at least four interviews. She wanted to set me up for the first phone interview which would last one hour.
Phone interview #1: This was with an experienced Project Manager who worked in the department and with the client and it was very nice and went well. We covered my background, my skills, the industry, the client, the role and its demands and the fit. Two weeks later, I received communication from the recuiter that I made it to the second round, the situational phone interview.
Phone interview #2: This phone interview was with a senior executive in a completely different division who had nothing to do with the job or the role. She had been with the company for 19 years and we talked pretty informally. This was to be the hardest interview I had heard but it was my favorite. She was great. She interjected throughout the conversation the five or so situational questions that I was to answer. I was extremely comfortable and had down a lot of research on glassdoor.com and google. So perhaps I was relaxed and prepared. She said the next step would be the skills interview to determine what level to bring you in at. Two days later, I received an email from the recruiter saying I would be meeting with the manager for the position for a face to face meeting and what was my availability during the week. I was so excited.
Interview #3: I was to meet the manager at a neutral location at a hotel lobby about a hour away from my house and an hour from the office location. Supposedly we were to have an uninterrupted chat. I didn't understand why we didn't meet at the location of the office. But didn't say anything and just went. The meeting went fine, it was very informal and we went over my resume and the expectations of the role, the client and what I knew to date. I had dressed in interview attire and the manager had on jeans. She did not have my resume and I don't think she even had looked at it as she asked if I was the "freelancer". She said she had three people to interview, and I was the first. There were two others, the "freelancer" as she called her and an internal candidate. I would know something next week. She was very tired. Also she lived in the same city as me, so we could have met there and saved us both an hour and half drive. I guess she had to come that way too that day. I just found all this so strange. She said she k new I could do the job. I was so excited about the company and she said that the others just were selling me on the company and it wouldn't be that way at all. This was a new division and it's like you work for the client. Well of course that is true. I was just really disappointed with her and lack of enthusiasm for a new hire and the role and the client. She said she got into this as she needed the experience as this is the way the market is going. I am thinking another role or company might be better for me.

The last interviewer, the manager, was not professional and did not match what the others represented and I got a bad feeling about the position. I would be interested in another position in another division.

Recruiter was professional, up front and honest. She loved my skill set (I was a perfect match for this unique PM) but told me they like to place people ~5K lower than my current salary.
Didn't get passed on to the next step, but she did forward my resume onto other in-house recruiters

The position was for a data warehouse project management job with Microsoft. It was contract to hire. The technical portion was mostly involved with the data warehouse process for a migration of data from a huge source system into a star schema with multiple fact tables. I received points for speaking about the problems in performance when using a snow flaked model and how to partition using mini-dimensions. Dr. Kimball's methodology was discussed at length. We spent time on data quality issues and data profiling in particular. Reporting was glanced over as this was mostly to produce the data and data structure to pull reports.
The project management portion was almost exclusively concerned with the use of MS Project. I got the question of "What are the best practices when using MS Project?" I had not reviewed anything on MS Project and did not do well. The best practices were all so obvious that I wouldn't have thought they were anything other than standard. All other project questions were not difficult. I would have thought they used an Agile methodology but they didn't.

HR had sent me CV to the wrong department and that also an old version of my CV!! The person who took my interview was conducting it for a role which did not match the JD provided to me by HR.AFter a few minutes in the interview, this became clear. The interviewer was a nice person and took my skill details so that he could forward it to the correct department. I wrote to HR after the interview and never heard from them

Recruiter contacted me (I am an Independent Consultant) about a contract project with Accenture. Recruiter and Account Manager conducted 2 separate phone screens/interviews. Very Professional. All went well.
1 week later, Accenture requested a phone interview which was scheduled for 4:30 pm.
I received a call from the Recruiter at 4:15 pm (yes, 15 minutes before the interview), who said that Accenture had just informed him that the position would be filled internally.
Outcome: No interview. Recruiter was apologetic about Accenture's cancellation.
I recently received a call from a recruiter in NYC with a perm job opportunity at what he described as "the number 1 consulting firm in the world." I asked "Is this position with Accenture?" He said "Oh, God, no... I wouldn't do that to you."
Based on online research it seems that Accenture, like most of the top consulting firms, is plagued by work culture problems and high turnover/ "jump ship" rates.

Interviewed Sep 2009 in Washington, DC (took 2 days)
The phone interview was my first contact with Accenture. The interview was rushed, not very enlighting. He did not seem to know specifics about the position and did not probe much. It was basically a screening call /checklist run. The call took all about 20 mins. Second callback was a 1 on 1 -interviewer appeared slightly more technical but it seemd all HR based. Questions were about past experiences, how do i prepare for meetings, etc...
