Interviewed Jun 2010 (took 7 months)
I applied through the corporate careers website. I was contacted by a recruiter to do a basic phone screen. After passing the phone screen, I had a telephone interview with another individual working in a similar position to the one I was applying. Most basic questions and an attempt to gauge your personality/past schooling/work decisions/character. After passing this interview, I had a 1 hour situation/action/result based interview with a higher ranking HR employee. After this interview, I was flown to VA to do more interviewing. The on-site interview involved meeting with a group of analysts/consultants who explained what it was like to work with the company. I also met with 3 separate individuals who asked a few questions and explained more about the company. A few months after my final on-site interview I received/accepted an offer.
I thought the most difficult part was the the SAR interview based on how engaging the questions were. I was nervous for the final interview but everyone was awesome and extremely laid back. Overall, despite the long process, I had a great experience overall.

Interviewed Apr 2010 in Chicago, IL (took 3 weeks)
It is a typical 3-round interview. If it doesn't take place on campus, the first two will be over the phone, with the third in person. The first one is easy -- they just ask about your work experience and get to know you a little. The second is the important one -- they ask you detailed scenario questions about your work experience and hypothetical situations. eg -- so you managed a team, how would you have dealt with the problem of someone not pulling their weight? or -- so you developed a website, what steps did you take to ensure user security? and so on... The third interview, you go to the local office and meet with two or more executives (one at a time). They re-ask some interview questions. Expect a psychological curveball (ie - not paying attention to you, or annoyed by you, or rude... your behavioral response is being examined)

Tried to negotiate salary... don't bother. Their figures are set in stone, and if you don't accept, there are HUNDREDS waiting in line to take your offer. Keep in mind that there are many perks that come along with working for Accenture (ie corporate discounts, airfare perks, hotel perks, etc) that seem to add up well.

I got the interview through an Employee Referral and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview, a 1:1 Interview and a Background Check.

Interviewed Oct 2010 in Vancouver, BC (Canada) (took 3 weeks)
The interviewers at Accenture do a great job of making you feel comfortable from the get go. Upon arriving at the interview site, which took place on a university campus, I was immediately greeted by someone from Accenture who chatted with me while I waited for my interview.
So far I've had two interviews. When doing these interviews, keep in mind that ultimately, they need to be able to trust you with clients. And you need to show that you can be.
1. The first interview is a basic screener interview. At this moment, they are probably fairly impressed with your resume and cover letter, and want to see you in person. They just want to make sure you are who you say you are. Be prepared to talk a little bit about yourself, talk about what you know about Accenture, and what you think the role you are applying for involves.
2. The second interview is a behavioural interview. In preparing for this interview, I Googled "behavioural interview questions", and made myself a mental outline of what I would say. As expected the interview was a series of behavioural interview questions. Obviously, when giving examples, pick the best example that tells more than what is being asked for. For example, if you are asked to give an example of a time you solved a problem, pick an example that shows you also have technical skills, presentation skills, interpersonal skills, product knowledge, etc....

Interviewed Feb 2010 in Reston, VA (took 6 weeks)
After two phone interviews, I had an interview in person at the Reston, Virgina office. The interview was with two different managers in consulting. The questions asked were the typical behavioral/situational questions. One was to explain a time when I worked in a group and took the leadership role. Another was to describe a time when I had to take multiple roles in a working situation. They also asked me where I want to go with the company. If you're interviewing for the Technical Consulting Analyst position, what they want to hear is that you want to move on to consultant, and then in to management.

Reason for Declining
I don't want to be isolated to working in consulting.

Interviewed Oct 2009 in Chicago, IL (took 2 weeks)
I was first approached by a recruiter at my school's career fair. We talked for a bit and she scheduled an interview for the next day with a Sr. Manager in the company. At that interview we just talked for about an hour about me and my interest in consulting and technology. She seemed to be looking for "consulting types;" mostly Type A personalities that can hold a conversation without letting it become awkward. She called me about an hour after the interview and told me I made it to the second round which would be held at the same place the next day. So I returned and this time had an hour long interview with a Senior Executive (accenture's version of a partner). We talked about my resume for a few minutes and then he started asking questions about my interests in technology and finance. We seemed to hit it off so he invited me to a happy hour he was holding with a few other accenture people at a local bar and told me that I had one more round to go just to introduce me to other Senior Executives at accenture. The final round was held in Washington, D.C. which is several hundred miles away from my school and the office for which I was interviewing. I spoke with three more Senior Executives from different concentrations and it seemed like I was interviewing them more than anything else. At the end of the day one of the recruiters asked me which group I was most interested in and sent me an offer.

Negotiation Details
The negotiations are difficult. They will likely tell you that all compensation is based upon a formula that takes into account your school, major, and experience. The best (and possibly only) way to get accenture to budge on the initial offer is to ensure one of the Senior Executives from your interviews really likes you and you should contact them about concerns with the compensation. I was able to successfully negotiate a 15% bump in salary and a 20% bump in signing bonus. I have heard some people were successful by walking away from the offer only to be called back later, but I wouldn't suggest that in this economic environment.

Interviewed Nov 2008 in Sydney (Australia) (took 3 months)
In my initial interview I was interviewed by a fairly uninspiring fellow - he wanted to get through it as quickly as possible as far as I could tell. This was probably understandable since there were a lot of graduates to get through, but I came out of there kind of confused really - he really seemed to want generic answers to generic questions. I don't think that their training is terribly good in terms of how to do interviews, so expect this interview to vary widely depending on who you are assigned to.
The senior executive interview however was a lot better - by this stage you are meeting with people who are more likely to challenge you - I was asked in depth about my honours thesis and masters projects. This was good, as I had a lot of material to pull from and I tried to focus on the amount of experience in working in groups, and especially in working with competing pressures from multiple interest groups (a total green light to working in the consulting industry I suppose!)
The interviews take place at head office, but clearly the majority of the workforce do not spend much time here, so it was a bit difficult to understand the people or the culture during the hiring process.

Negotiation Details
I didn't negotiate - naivety on my part probably - didn't really get the impression that it was an option though. The one thing I should have known however is that you should go in there with a good knowledge of the business groups and where you would like to fit in. If you don't know or if you say you don't mind, you will end up in the less inspiring areas as they are typically positions which are more difficult to fill - definitely recommend doing thorough research into which stream you want to go into.

Interviewed Aug 2007 in Sacramento, CA (took 1 week)
The hiring process is very professional and very well organized. I started by applying online and I had a quick phone screen in less than 4 days. Within a week I had an official phone interview and a few weeks later I had an in-person interview. The process was quick and painless. They focused a lot on experience and personality type questions like "describe a difficult situation" or "tell us about 3 weaknesses". It's good to have some anecdotal experience ready.

Negotiation Details
At the time, Accenture was pretty firm about my offer. Since this was my first full-time position right out of college, I had neither the experience nor the understanding to negotiate much. I would simply recommend looking at sites like this to get an idea of what they are offering. One important point: office choice is key! They like to keep you near your home office, so ask about what kind of projects are nearby.
