Declined Offer – Interviewed in Nashville, TN – Reviewed May 10, 2013 New
Interview Details – I recently was selected for an interview on campus and based on previous hires from Vanderbilt. I did research and found the company to have some bad PR but still I was excited. While interviewing with the "VP" of Recruiting all of that interest and excitement faded. This person was completely unprofessionally, asking about what my parents did for a living is not relevant! This person also could not articulate "where" the opportunity/job would be and I was not about to sign up with a company where I had no idea where I would be working.
Interview Question – "What does your father do" Answer Question
No Offer – Interviewed in Chicago, IL Mar 2012 – Reviewed Apr 13, 2013
Interview Details – Decent. Took forever, kept hearing they'd let me know "next week". Next week turned into never. April was always very nice but I never felt like she was being completely honest. Probably a good company to start off at but I wouldn't stick around too long. The company makes headlines somewhat often and not always for good reasons. Faulty financial statements (for 9 quarters), questionable collection practices, and hedges are dumping their stock. Do your research.
Interview Question – What do you do with your free time? Answer Question
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Oct 2011 – Reviewed Apr 1, 2013
Interview Details – Why healthcare? tell me about a time you failed. how do you lead a team? 4 interviews. 1st and 2nd are cultural fit interviews, 3rd and 4th are behavioral interviews. after you get your offer, you wont hear anything until your start date which sucks.
Declined Offer – Reviewed Mar 20, 2013
Interview Details – After speaking with the recruiter, I went through five different interviews on the same day with mostly regional stakeholders and a couple corporate HR people.
Interview Question – Are you morally OK with asking for money from someone dying in a hospital bed? View Answer
Reason for Declining – Long, intense hours and morally questionable job responsibilities
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Chicago, IL Mar 2008 – Reviewed Dec 6, 2012
Interview Details – Although lengthy, I thought it was very fair and balanced with both lower and higher level employees. I met with 3 different individuals throughout the day. None were trying to intimidate or stump me and it was good, easy conversation. I had each interviewer's full attention - they weren't writing or typing my verbatim responses, but engaged in a dialogue with me.
Interview Question – As a college student, I think the hardest thing to answer was how I was successful in problem solving without using examples from class projects or group work. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – There wasn't one when I was first hired as I came straight out of college.
No Offer – Interviewed in Chicago, IL Jun 2012 – Reviewed Nov 27, 2012
Interview Details – I was referred through a current employee, and contacted for a phone interview within a few days. The phone interview was pretty standard - 30 minutes of the recruiter asking about my background and previous experience, then explaining what Accretive is looking for in a new employee. I was asked at the end of the phone interview to come in for face to face interviews the next week. I interviewed with 6 different people - 4 "managers" and 2 "peers". The interviews were again pretty standard and not difficult. I left feeling very good about how everything went and was told I'd be contacted within a week. After not hearing back, I called the HR recruiter to get an update. The recruiter was extremely difficult to get a hold of, always sending calls to voicemail and only occasionally returning my messages. He explained that they were making organizational changes within the company and waiting to get exec approval before bringing anyone onboard - it seemed fishy and I was right to have my suspicions. Week after week would go by, and I was never contacted first with updates, I always had to call them asking for an update. They kept leading me on by asking for my soonest possible start date, saying they'd have approval for me to start within the next 2-3 days, and then I wouldn't hear from them again until I reached out after a week or two. After about 3 weeks I was finally told that their legal department was trying to work through my non-compete with my former employer. After hearing that, and all the trouble I'd already gone through trying to get information out of them, I decided to take an offer from another company instead of waiting around on Accretive. I'm glad I did - if HR is any indication of how the company is functioning, they are a mess.
Interview Question – All the standard interview questions. If you're prepared, you'll be fine. Answer Question
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Chicago, IL Nov 2010 – Reviewed Nov 19, 2012
Interview Details – The HR department is terribly unresponsive. I was jokingly accused of being a "stalker" by the main HR contact. The reasoning behind this? I had the audacity to call/e-mail on a weekly basis after I never heard back from the representative despite her having made a specific date/time appointment to speak with me.
