Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 7 weeksinterviewed at Advisory Board (Austin, TX).

Interview

This was one of the most extensive interview processes I've gone through. I had two phone interviews, one with a representative from HR, and the other from a Director. The second phone interview contained a lot of technical questions and SQL examples. From there, I was extended an invitation for a three-hour on-site interview. The first hour is a panel interview, where three potential colleagues ask you questions about your resume, and then you demonstrate your SQL skills based on examples they present. The following two hours are one-on-one interviews with higher ups, and those are just basic questions and very straight forward interviews.

Interview Questions

  • Be prepared to show correct SQL syntax for Group By examples. Know the difference between inner, outer, left and right outer joins and how they will affect your results.   Answer Question

Negotiation

Negotiation was very easy.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeksinterviewed at Advisory Board (Washington, DC) in May 2012.

    Interview

Applied online and I was set up for a Screening round for a position in Washington Dc.
The screening round went very smooth and I was very positive. I did not hear back from them for 2 weeks so I emailed them back. The recruiter had totally forgotten to call me back. I was a little surprised , but did not think much about it. I was invited for an onsite interview and it was very well. The process was good , the interviewers were very courteous and good. After the interview i was told i will get a response in 2 weeks. I waited for 2 weeks and sent them a email , for which i got a call from the main recruiter saying that we liked you and want to hire you. But this is very bad timing as they had already offered a position to other candidate before i was interviewed. I was so surprised of the unprofessional behavior by such a big company .If they had offered the position to other candidate even before they invited me for an interview why did they waste my time? Such a disgrace
