Interviewed Nov 2011 (took 2 days)
First I went in for a presentation. It was OK; got a fair amount of info on the company. The next day I went in for a one on one interview with the regional manager. He didn't ask me any questions about myself or my qualifications so apparently he didn't care to get to know me or see if I was a good fit before offering me a job. He just answered questions I had by rambling on about his experiences with the company.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
The interviewer didn't try to find out anything about me. That set off warning signals. Also, the compensation for the job is 100% commission or bonus based with no guaranteed money or benefits. I would have had to pay for my insurance license out of pocket. And it would have been all cold calling or knocking on doors. Not very appealing.

I got the interview through a Recruiter and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview and a Presentation.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Columbus, GA (took 1+ week)
The hiring and interview process was as expected. They did a thorough job of assessing skills, experience and how well of a 'fit' you might be. Aflac HR personnel were very professional and quick to respond. A+.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 2 days)
Overall, very informative interview. Everything was explained perfectly- from pay structure to products offered. Interviewer briefly looked over my resume and qualifications, asked me what my long-term goals were. Gave a strong sense of support and leadership. It was actually quite a long interview, about an hour and a half, but very positive.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Hazlet, NJ (took 1 week)
The "informational meeting" that recruiters invite you to are just that: information on the Aflac spiel. It's 100% commission and they give you the song and dance about how you get to be "a mini-franchise" for Aflac. Essentially, you pay for everything yourself: schooling, merchandise, gas, etc. to be part of the team. However, you get about 45% of the close in your first year. They said the training is pretty much on the job and the first three weeks are training. Your first check is your first close. After that, you get renewal checks for your ongoing clients. Overall, a pretty decent product that will sell itself in the end, but the first year is cold-calling and calling up people in your former industry.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Hazlet, NJ (took 1 week)
Aflac contacted me by phone twice and email once so I finally decided to attend their "informational" meeting. The Regional manager was very convincing, which is probably why he's in his position. I like the idea of residual income and being able to make your own schedule. But, what they do not tell you is the out of pocket expense. The manager explained the average of what a representative can earn and I was a bit skeptical. I decided to go on my 2nd interview to ask questions about how much the investment actually is other than my license. There has to be some type of fee for your business cards, marketing materials, there's no benefits, no expense report.

Expect a lot of sales-talk. Aflac doesn't really interview, they simply try and get you pumped about the job. They really try and find out if you have any good leads before you start employment. For example, if you have a friend who owns a pumbing company, or your dad is a General Manager of an auto dealership. They figure if you can get this first account, it will push you through the first few months of training until you get on your feet. If you ever get on your feet...

Interviewed May 2011 in Washington, DC (took 2 days)
The first step here is a group info session with a district or regional manager where they go over what Aflac's business is, what the day to day is like, and the commission structure. Recruiters avoid mentioning commission on the phone for two reasons first, they want you to see the opportunity for what it is a business venture rather than employment, and two they want the chance to persuade you to come on board. Managers will often talk about the claims experiences they've had helping people and then field any questions from the group and then take your resume and contact you to see if you want to interview for step two. This is the part where you are already hired, given the nature of the business Aflac has very little risk in taking on new agents as they almost always result in new business one way or another and as its 100% commission they don't have to worry about paying any dead weight (there is a reason they are able to pay out twice their administrative costs in claims almost every year). The only way I can imagine someone not getting invited to come on board is if they couldn't pass the background check or get their licenses. If you completely lack social skills or are completely insufferable they'll probably advise against moving forward, but district managers have quotas to meet for recruitment so anyone who signs the contract and can bring in at least one account is just fine, anymore is icing on the cake. Production is what matters here so if you think you can do it and can prove it you'll have no trouble here. Culture varies by office, but a can do attitude is required. The recruiters calling you are agents because they get a 5% override on your first few deals and district managers get an override for as long as your are below their level. This is not MLM you would have to recruit a tremendous amount of people to make a living on overrides so the motivation is still on new business.

Negotiation Details
Commission isn't negotiated there are two levels new agents get more of their sale upfront to keep them afloat in the early years and veteran agents see more benefits on the tail end. It is possible to get too busy with existing accounts to generate new business and some agents just go into service mode and live on renewal business after several years.

Interviewed May 2011 in Irvine, CA (took a day)
Very unorganized experience. They wrote me in for the wrong time, so when I came in they thought I was coming in an hour earlier. Needless to say, they weren't very prepared and probably hadn't reviewed my application much. Regardless, I felt like they had already decided to hire me before I came in the door. I think that is their strategy; they just hire a lot of people and see who sinks or swims.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
Since they probably hire in bulk, I figured I wouldn't be very valued as an employee. Also, they want you to pay $125 rent a month to use their office (on a commissions only paycheck).

Interviewed Sep 2011 (took a day)
Met regional manager in breakfast shop for a one on one interview. It was explained to me what and how Aflac sells supplemental insurance and the income potential. The regional mgr who had been in his position for 13 years had 12 on his team and only 5 agents making any money. The suggested approach to selling was to seek small business with less than 6 -8 emp. or to sell to HR dept. for group sales.
Reason for Declining
No benefits or base salary or expenses or license sponsorship / reimbursement or not even business cards.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took a day)
I responded to a Careerbuilder ad and was called the next day by a manager. I agreed to come in for an interview 2 days later, told to dress professionally. Interviewer was 24 years old and said he had been a with Aflac for 4 years, starting at age 19. He was a good interviewer and did a good thorough job. I realized that this was a sales interview when he attempted to "close" me on the $285 initial investment, saying it could be paid in 2 installments. I indicated that I was willing to try it (at least I could get a license), and he took me out to the receptionist, telling her that I would be calling her as soon as "he gets his money together".
I was pumped initially, but have second thoughts now that I've read some posts on this site.
