Interviewed Jun 2011 in Barcelona (Spain) (took 2 weeks)
I came to an interview with AkzoNobel through a staffing agency that had my CV previously. The position I was being interview for was in the Marketing department, therefore both the Marketing Manager and HR Manager interviewed me together. We went through the normal procedure, I detailed my education and experience and after they took over to explain me the project. They were really more focused in identifying a right fit toward the future rather than digging too much into previous experiences. They were very clear and straight forward to me, something that is always welcomed.

Interviewed May 2010 (took 3 months)
The telephone interview questions were all quite normal, including why the company, why your course and why the role, and your greatest achievement.
The assessment centre was held in mid May.

Interviewed Feb 2011 (took 3 weeks)
There was an initial phone interview with a district manager for about 40 minutes. Then they flew me in for a face to face interview. This had 2 parts. One portion was roll playing in front of 2 people. The other part was typical interview questions in front of 2 other people.

Interviewed Sep 2010 (took 4+ weeks)
Only had an initial phone interview for one hour. The interviewer was well prepared and friendly. Interviewer postioned themselves as my representative throughout the entire interview process should it advance into further conversations. Interview was a combination of specific questions about my general background and experience and targed situational questions covering the responsibilities listed in the job description.
The downside was the follow up. The company never notified me as to the status of my candidacy even after my follow up with the interviewer. Since I never get any response I can only assume they made the decision to proceed with someone else. It really demonstrated a complete lack of professional courtesy.

Interviewed Jul 2010 (took a day)
Initially, I responded to an Ad posted on an internet job board. Application was an online form and an upload of the CV. I was telephoned for an interview for the following week by the Branch Manager. I was to be interviewed at the location by both the manager & the regional controller. It was to be an hour long structured interview process, the two managers alternately asking questions & taking notes. The obvious questions were asked - Why do you want this job, what do you know about us, tell us about your interests & hobbies, where do you see yourself in 5 years time, and so forth. In amongst these were two I had'nt previously encountered - the first being "Tell me a time you made a mistake & what did you do about it " and the second being " When have you developed a person to a point where there achievements exceeded your expectations?". Having prepared beforehand I was ready for everything that was thrown at me, but the structured interview garned little or no response from my interviewers, writing down the answers and then moving on. I felt I did well, and the branch manager even went as far as to say so, and they would be in touch after the whole process was over, in around a weeks time. The following morning I received an email from Head Office to say that I was unsuccessful on this occasion. I was puzzled not least because what was said afterwards, but also because the interview was so thorough, and I knew I had prepared well. I have emailed them for some feedback, but as yet have not received any.

Interviewed Apr 2010 (took 2+ weeks)
Interviewed as one of many at a hotel conference room. Then had a 1 on 1 meeting with the training/hiring manager. Things seemed to be going well, then the followup stopped. After several messages over 3 weeks to the hiring manager, I got the dreaded letter in the mail.
