I applied for the post by sending my CV and covering letter. After couple of weeks a phone interview was setup. Two of the hiring manager conducted the interview and it lasted for about 40 minutes. I was asked questioned solely based on my CV. I had to explain my dissertation work and why I chose to go for this topic. They asked me about my assignment work, pulse shaping filter, noisy channel. After the phone interview I was asked to come to their Swindon office for a face to face interview. A HR personnel took a 10 minutes competency based interview. She asked me about the company, my future aspirations, team-work experience etc. The same two hiring manager took the interview again and asked me similar questions from my CV along with job specific questions. Questions were asked about LTE network architecture, technological specifications and about femto cell simulation in C. They reimbursed my travel expences which was about 40 GBP. They got back to me after one and half months saying I was not successful on this occasion.

Interviewed Feb 2009 in Saint Petersburg (Russia) (took 2 days)
Offered an interview by employment agency. First it was a group interview with team leader and two developers. Checked my CV and had a talk about past experience. Then I was asked to solve two or three logical tasks (i.e. rope burning from both ends, bacteria increase rate in a retort). After that interview continued 1:1 with a team leader. Started from advanced C++ test about 30 questions, then talked a bit about programming tips and tricks I used in the past. Then I was told about duties and responsibilities, team leader described the product line.
After that they took a break and a second interview after a few days was with site manager (nothing special, only a few general questions about past experience and inprovement/practices I can bring to the team) and then with HR generalist concerning mostly job start time, needed papers, etc.
I have no information that background check was performed, so I assume probably not. But sure it varies from country to country.

Negotiation Details
Negotiate the salary level with site manager. I advise to pay much attention to that because yearly salary increase rate is not very high and even sometimes flat.

Negotiation Details
Negotiation sometimes can drop the offer as in 2009 there were a lot of candidates in the market without job. Negotiate only if mentioned your true present and past salary. Honesty is very important.

They shortlisted the candidates based on the aptitude test score. There were were four rounds of interview.
First Round:

I was interviewed by the hiring Manager himself.
I answered well. But since I didn't have any Computer Science background along with programming and scripting experience, I think it didn't go further.

Now, if you ping ( send any packet ) from Host A to Host B, what all happens ?
He added if four hosts are connected to four ports of a Hub and and four hosts are connected to a switch and if a host wants to send something, than what happens?
