Interviewed Jan 2012 in Raleigh, NC (took 2 weeks)
I received my first phone interview after I applied through the company's website. It was a general interview about me and any related experience I have that fit the position. Some technical question also. I then received another interview invitation that I had to travel from one state to Raleigh, NC. Everything went really good with great organization and interviewer. Well organized!!!. Started with a presentation, we (28 candidates) started with 1 to 1 presentation with 2 different interviewers in 2 different room. I was able to answer all the questions and I think I did pretty good. very technical.
After 2 weeks, I received another call telling to that I will have another interview again (phone). I did the interview, and it went pretty good, and I was told that they will contact me soon.
I am not sure what really happened, but I almost got the job unless someone else had better qualification for this position. I recommend the company to anyone who want to apply because they really offer great benefit and great people working there.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Raleigh, NC (took 3 weeks)
The phone interview went well, very general, told me about the job description and the salary. The agent did more talking than I did. Then said that I would be going to an interview conference with other potential candidates at a date. Said they would specify in the coming weeks about the conference (where to be, when exactly it was, etc). Then the agent never got back to me after a week or so, and even after an email. I've read that this is a trend with this company. At least send a courtesy email saying that the position is no longer available, or the conference has been moved, or that the company is no longer interested so that a job seeker may move on with a definite answer.

Interviewed May 2010 in Raleigh, NC (took 4+ weeks)
Round 1: Basic Phone Interview. Describe the fit. I described how I identified with our company values: CLEAR. The interview ended well and I was invited out to this massive interview 3-day process in Raleigh. 812 resume submissions, 300 phone interview, 82 people invited to final round.
Final Round: Two weeks later, I came for one of the 3-days of Allscripts Interview event. It was a really fun interview day with several Allscripts employees coming to conduct the interviews. We were given 10 minutes to create and then give a 7 minute presentation on one of four randomly selected topics that were irrelevant to the position. We had to work together to put together a lego-helicopter within 5 minutes without being able to look at the model helicopter all at once. Only one person could look at it and then describe how it looked. There was a standard interview from a panel of three employees. Most of it was describing the culture fit, why did I want the position, etc.
After waiting a week or two, I learned by phone call on a Friday night that I was one of about 30 people were hired.

Negotiation Details
Although they said I was their first pick of thirty hired individuals, they would not budge an inch on salary and told me I had 24 hours to get back to them. (They told me on Friday morning and expected me to get back to them by Saturday morning...I didn't even get the entire weekend to think about the offer.)
Other Details
I got the interview through a College or University and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview, a 1:1 Interview, a Group/Panel Interview, a Presentation and a Skills Test.

Interviewed May 2011 in Raleigh, NC (took 3 months)
My experience in interviewing with Allscripts was very frustrating. I originally submitted my application and resume online and then had a friend who is an employee follow up for me. About a month after I applied I was contacted for a phone screening, which was very positive. They wanted to make sure that I was aware of the travel commitment and it felt that they were trying to make sure that I was serious about the job. I was told during the call that I was "one of the stronger candidates" that they had spoken to and I was asked if I was interested in interviewing for a position that started in 3 weeks. I couldn't possibly have given only two weeks notice to my current employer, but expressed interest in their next round of hiring, which I was told would begin in "two or three weeks".
When more than 3 weeks went by without any communication I emailed my HR contact and asked when they would begin the interview process for the next round. I was told that they were going to start "in the next two weeks". I again waited 3 weeks and after no word contacted her again. This time I got no response. I waited a week and emailed again and was told that they were going to begin the interviews "next week". Again, nothing. After two weeks I called and got no return call. I finally had my friend contact them and this time I was emailed by a different person with an actual time-frame for interviews. I made an appointment for an online Skype interview and it went very well. I interviewed with the hiring manager and an associate and the actual interview lasted about 45 minutes. This was on a Tuesday and I received an email the following Tuesday that they were impressed with the interview and intended to make a verbal offer. I was told that they were compiling the offers and that I would be contacted soon with the details. Meantime, I had been offered another position in the same area and was waiting to determine if I would accept it. Several days later I was emailed again with the offer and it was VERY low. Considering that the position required 100% travel, I was shocked at the amount they wanted to pay. The offer I received from the other agency was at least 5% higher and it didn't require ANY travel. I asked if they could match my offer and they declined to do so, so I declined the position.
The problems I had with this company were several:
1. If it's going to take 2 months to set up an interview then JUST TELL ME THAT! They kept telling me "next week" or "in two weeks" and then never followed up.
2. Please return phone calls, even if it's just an email saying that you received it. That's just professional courtesy.
3. If you are interviewing professionals for positions that are going to require travel, why are you waiting until they have only time to give two weeks notice and then no time in between jobs to arrange their affairs? My offer came less than two weeks prior to the date they wanted me to start. If I had not received the previous offer and turned in a 30 day notice already, I would have left my current employers in quite a lurch. Also, most employers are requiring at least a 30 day notice for RNs and if it's not given you can be listed as not recommended on a re-hire.
4. This company never even considered negotiating my salary. They never even asked about health benefits (which I was going to decline) because not having those benefits saves the company at least 10k a year. I was asking for less than 30% of that. This is a very short sighted view of the managers and clearly shows that they are more interested in getting help for as cheaply as they can instead of looking at quality.
All in all, I would not recommend interviewing for this company. Even though I was made an offer, I'm very glad that I was in a position to decline.

Interviewed May 2011 in Raleigh, NC (took 2 days)
Responded to ad on day 1, day 2 morning had a phone interview with the screener, day 2 afternoon had a interview with the on-up at the staffing agency, day 3 I had an interview with the client, few hours later I had the job offer. To me it was very rushed and they felt like they were checking for a pulse. The interview itself was not technical at all. So I am not sure what they are expecting when they are getting a new hire. There was no skill test or anything. My guess is that my colleagues are going to be all over the map-skill wise, since they did not screen for anything at all.

No, the only thing I could do is ask for top end of their very narrow salary range, at the sacrifice of benefits, vacation, etc.

Interviewed Apr 2010 in Raleigh, NC (took 1+ week)
Interviewed with hiring manager and three potential co-workers. Very positive statements by hiring manager as I left indicating strong feelings that I was the person for the job. Was asked to come back to interview with his boss and one of the hiring manager peers. The senior VP was 30 minutes late and then proceeded to spend most of the "interview" letting me know how much smarter he was than me and how little he thought about my background. The peer VP was quite positive. 4 days later I got a voicemail from the hiring manager indicating they were setting my resume aside for now.

Interviewed Feb 2010 in Raleigh, NC (took 4 weeks)
I went through a couple phone interviews with the HR recruiter and the hiring mgr. Then I was invited to a site visit to interview with 3 people at the Raleigh, NC site. This turned out to be a nightmare. Both people I had the phone interview with knew I was located in Dallas. They had their travel arranger work with me to set up the interview itinerary. I assumed she knew I was in Dallas and she assumed I was local. When she sent my itinerary without any travel arrangements, I asked her in a polite manner if I was supposed to pay for the travel expenses myself. She responded back to me clearly irritated and in a defensive manner and asking why I thought I would have to pay for everything. I got a bad feeling right away. She had set up my interviews so that my first interview was at 1pm on a Monday. Once she knew I was not local but would have to come in from Dallas, she still booked me on an early morning flight for the day of the interview! And...it was a connecting flight from Dallas to Charlotte to Raleigh!!! The way she had the flight set up, I would land in Raleigh at 12:10 for a 1pm interview. When I expressed concern about flying out from Dallas on the day of the interview and having my arrival so close to the interview time, she asked why?? I replied I was concerned about airplane delays due to weather, etc. She replied Do you mean you think there will be bad weather in Dallas? Right then I knew I was dealing with a very strange, inept person. Needless to say, things went downhill from there. On the morning of the flight, I missed the flight from Dallas to Raleigh due to bad weather and traffic problems (I admit I should have factored addtl time for this in my commute). Then I missed the connecting flight from Charlotte to Raleigh. I didn't arrive in Raleigh until almost 4pm. I only had time to interview with 1 person before I had to head back to the airport for my 5:50 return flight to Dallas. Well, the company never contacted me again which is fine with me. I wouldn't want to work for a company like this. I'm sure they thought I was at fault for the mishaps. Even in this economic times, I can't believe there are companies that would fly you in for an interview on the same date especially when you're coming from several states away. I really believe the travel arranger set this up on purpose because she was mad about finding out I wasn't local and didn't want to change my itinerary.

Interviewed Nov 2009 in Raleigh, NC (took a day)
This was meant to be a 10-minute screening/interview call. It turned out to be the strangest experience I have had. I got the impression that the hiring manager may have seen my resume and gave this recruiter some specific questions to ask. She was very open that she had a list of questions and was going to be recording the responses.
Let me say that I had created a profile with the company prior to applying online. So, they had my current salary and requested salary range IN ADVANCE OF THIS INTERVIEW.
Well, it starts off with the standard, "Why do you want to leave your current position?" (I am currently employed). Ok. Answer that.
Then, it goes into nothing but questions to the negative, such as "Now you have this industry experience but you have not experience in this other industry, correct?" Now you never did this?" Didn't she read the resume?
Then, it became clear to me as I addressed her questions that this lady did not know anything about what a business analyst does within a software development project. She was basically spitting out questions with no background information on how to handle anything more complicated than a "yes" or "no" response. It was quite cumbersome.
THEN, the kicker. She asks my desired salary range. Then asks my current salary. AS I SAID EARLIER, she already had this information. As my desired salary range was greater than my current salary (Duh!) I added that we normally receive a bonus as part of our compensation package. Well, this rubbed her the wrong way and the response was "I'm not going to try to match your bonus. I would try to match your absolute bottom line salary. Is $ your bottom-line salary amount?" Have to say I was not expecting this. I have never had money brought up in a phone screening interview and generally not in a first interview - ESPECIALLY WHEN I TOLD YOU IN ADVANCE ON MY PROFILE - WHY DID YOU CALL ME???
There was definitely the attitude that they are looking for the absolute cheapest labor.
I was not given an opportunity to ask a single question.
I was not asked anything like "Why did you apply for this position?".
There seemed to be an assumption that everyone applying for a job is desperate and won't mind being treated as if we were a sofa on sale on Craigslist. "What is the lowest you will take for it???"
