Interviewed Mar 2012 in Northbrook, IL (took a day)
Received the initial offer from an HR Recruiter, and was referred to a position from someone who works with the company. Had an interview with my possible supervisor who asked basic questions revolving around the job requirements. The position had fairly specific requirements, and the questions revolved entirely around those without delving into things like "What's your biggest weakness?"

Interviewed Mar 2012 in Northbrook, IL (took 4 weeks)
After applying through Allstate's website, I received an e-mail asking for a phone interview. The interview was basic customer service questions- name a time I went the extra mile for a customer, a time when I thought outside the box to solve a problem, etc. Immediately after the phone interview, I received an e-mail with a personality test that had to be completed within 24 hours. This test involved behavioral questions (how would you handle conflict, how would people describe you) and after finishing, received an e-mail saying that I had passed. The next day, I received a call from Allstate's talent acquisition to schedule an interview at their headquarters in Northbrook. The interviewer was friendly and upbeat, and the session took about an hour. The questions were again on customer service and how I handled situations. Every question that he asked has been covered on this page, I can't stress how much Glassdoor helped in preparing. He told me that I would receive a call within a week or two. The next day, I received a call from talent acquisition to schedule a second interview. The second interview was very similar to the first, and I was told to expect a decision within seven business days. About ten business days later, I received a call with an offer, contingent on passing a background check. The anticipated start date was in twelve days, and I asked if it could be pushed back so I could give my notice after I passed the background check. They were nice enough to push my start date back a week, and the background check came back after a week, so I was able to give two weeks notice at my previous position. Overall, this was a solid process that was handled well.

Interviewed Mar 2012 in Northbrook, IL (took a day)
The interview process went by very quickly. I was contacted by the recruiter, and then I was asked to interview with the person I would report within 4 hours. I think it made it somewhat difficult to prepare for the interview. I know they probably do that on purpose to only get the most qualified candidates, but I would have liked more notification that I had to interview so quickly!

Interviewed Mar 2012 in Northbrook, IL (took 5 days)
Applied online and completed personality test then was called the next day for a phone screen with an HR recruiter. A few hours later I was told that I passed and moved to another phone interview with a manager. The following day I was asked to set up an in person interview. The in-person interview consisted of 3 managers from different parts of the business- none of which could or would be my potential manager. I was told that it was set up this way because the position is so new. They realized that since Actuaries are too hard to find they could actually get the work done with Finance people.
The first interviewer (an Actuary) handed me a 4 question math test (exactly like GMAT math problems) while he read over my resume for about 15 minutes. We then just talked about the company and his career there. I answered a couple of behavioral questions that were pretty easy.
The second interview was with someone (an Accountant) who asked mostly behavioral questions and was interested in discussing my school projects rather than work experience.
The third interview consisted of a statistical/IQ test and some behavioral questions. This interviewer also wanted to show me the forms that he would be filling out about me and talked to me a lot about how they pick people to offer a job. It basically comes down to a vote where 2 out of 3 votes gets the offer.
In answering his IQ questions I found some solutions that were not the 1 solution that he was expecting to get. It seemed to irritate him and he told me that I was using the 'literal interpretation of what the question asked'. He had to (verbally) modify the question several times because I kept solving it with 100% probability. I had a hard time believing that I would fit in well at Allstate after that. I eventually gave him the answer he was looking for- but reiterated that it also had the lowest probability (< 75%).
I was told that I would hear something within 2 weeks. At 3 weeks when I had not heard anything. I was pretty sure that I did not get it since the interviewing process moved so fast. I sent an email follow up to HR who then called me an hour later to drag out 'no' into about 5 minutes of talking before he finally said it. I appreciated the phone call but I would have preferred that they let me know right after my interviews instead of trying to spare my feelings and waiting until I called them to make it seem like they had a tough time cutting me.
Another strange thing is that he told me the 'no' was because of lack of experience but they knew my experience level prior to those final three interviews so I kind of feel like it's code for something else.
The HR person told me that he liked me a whole lot and that I should keep applying. I'm a little appalled at that since I applied to about 30 positions over an 18 month period at Allstate and this was the only one I have ever even got a call about.
Everyone was exceptionally nice. The office was very well lit. The campus is sprawling and I saw a very diverse workforce.

Interviewed Mar 2012 in Northbrook, IL (took 3 weeks)
I was contacted through email by a recruiter a few weeks after I applied to schedule a phone interview. The phone interview mainly consisted of behavioral question. Such as, how you act in groups, how you deal with conflict, how you are with presenting, etc.
A week later I was brought in for a face to face interview which consisted of two panel interviews. Everyone was very relaxed and friendly. Very comfortable interview. Asked behavioral questions and some questions relating to excel and other software.

Applied online. Initial screen through some HR people--pretty rote stuff. Another screen with member of modeling group--asked more detailed questions. Most of them are leading, so just think about what they're trying to ascertain before you answer. On-site interview is pretty standard. They ask some trick questions ala google so beware.
Negotiation Details
Negotiations sucked. They are very rigid. Little to no flexibility in starting salary -- their HR folks kept saying things like "we've got people with X years experience only making Y, so we can't offer you Y+1." I'm sorry--how is that my problem?

Interviewed Aug 2010 in Northbrook, IL (took 3 days)
After an HR behavioral interview, I was asked to interview with a department manager. During the interview he asked me about my classwork and related work experience. He then asked me to speak with the senior developer that same afternoon. This was a technical interview where I was asked about my programming skills. I was asked to write sample code and debug pre-written code. This technical interview was difficult but not impossible.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Northbrook, IL (took 3 months)
The recruiter I met was great. He was very enthusiastic and helped secure me an interview with a hiring manager. I was first called by an HR recruiter as more of a screening interview. I then had a phone interview scheduled a month later with two managers. About another month later I received a call from HR with a job offer.
