You have to fill out application with some math problems and typical questions about your future in 5 years, main accomplishments, greatest weakness etc, then you'll get interview with the general manger or the owner if they like your qualifications. The ask you you what is your experience working in InDesign - this is the main program they use and if you have any experience working at a print shop. They don't mind if you have no experience, they say they will train you as long as you are willing to learn. Willing to learn and attention to detail is the biggest plus. Don't bother bringing your portfolio, you won't be doing much of a creative design, more like fixing artwork and make it print ready.

Interviewed Aug 2009 in Elk Grove Village, IL (took 2 days)
My initial telephone interview was promising. The on site interview started with a one-on-one meeting that also was comfortable and seemed a good fit. In the group meeting was the first time I was asked if I was familiar with and able to maintain a particular piece of equipment. I had never used that equipment before but stated I was willing to learn. At that point I was told they needed someone who could step right in. the interview ended soon after with the promise that my resume would be kept on file should a position become available.
