Interviewed Dec 2010 in Hyderabad (India) (took a day)
I interviewed with Amazon at campus. I went through a written test which consisted of multiple choice questions - mostly around data structures, networking, SQL and aptitude, and two coding questions. I don't really remember signing any NDA and since the interview was more than four years ago, I'll spill the beans.
Overall, the interview process went really smooth. Amazon arrived at campus at 6 AM, went through their sales pitch using a PPT presentation. They gave away iPods (yes, iPods were novelty in those days) via lucky draws. They then conducted the test whose results were out before noon. My first interview was at 1 PM and the last was at 4 PM. I got confirmation at midnight. The process was really smooth, no hassles or hidden components in the compensation offered.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Hyderabad (India) (took a day)
Recruiter made a couple of calls prior to confirm my availability for the interview, When I arrived at the site, I am impressed by their hospitality.
I was asked to take up a written test which lasted for about 2 hours. When its complete, They gave me the feedback within 10 minutes.
The second round of interview was 1:1 with another analyst on couple of business reporting scenarios (SQL). After its done, I got a break of 1 Hour for lunch
The third round of interview was 1:1 with another analyst on couple of data loading strategies. Looks like this guy got a little bit of ego
The fourth round was 1:1 with the manager, evaluating my attitude and couple of questions on SDLC and project architectures. Later after that, I was asked to leave for the day & wait for the feedback.
After 1 week I got the reply saying
We hope you are doing fine! It was really wonderful to talk with you recently and we appreciate the time you spent with Amazon.
Unfortunately, we are unable to take your candidature further, at the moment. However, your credentials are extremely impressive and we wish to retain your details on our active database. We shall get back to you as soon as another similar opportunity opens up.
We wish you luck in your future endeavors and thank you once again for your interest in Amazon.com

Interviewed Mar 2012 in Hyderabad (India) (took 4+ weeks)
though the position was for web developer, they wanted someone who can switch roles as a software engineer too.
Asked me about almost everything I knew (mostly analytical though), PHP, Databases (MySQL), javascript, css, html, data structures.
They don't look for correct answers, they look for your approach.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Hyderabad (India) (took 2 weeks)
Applied after seeing the position in job portal. received call from recruiter couple of days laters scheduling one face to face interview.
Post that received call again from same recruiter confirming that i was through to subequent phases of interview and that i need to come down to their office again for 4-6 hours for 3 rounds of face to face interviews. Left the day after going through the f2f intervies. 2 telephonic interviews were scheduled again, post which an offer was made
I experienced 2 categories of interview viz.1) to judge my personality and 2) technical skills.
I would say technical interviews were not very difficult to handle if the candidate has good experience and does not fake around, but peronality test interviews were something which made me sweat.
Other thing which i think amazon wants to check is how you handle stress and thats the reason they conduct so many rounds of interview one after the other that most of the candidates would loose patience and do not something wrong which interviewers want to check in you.
Honestly on couple of occassion i too felt like loosing my temper, but fortunately was able tp control on it.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Hyderabad (India) (took 1+ week)
I got a call from Amazon on a friday. I was offered to appear for an online test. Because of personal commitments I was not able to take the test. I took the test on the next weekend. I got a call from the HR on the next Tuesday where she scheduled a telephonic interview for me with the Hiring Manager. This telephonic interview, as a company policy, might be with anyone. There were 2 technical questions posed to me for which I had to verbally speak the code.
Q1: Implement a stack with the getMinimum() function apart from the other basic functions.
A: using another array as a minStack. if(e < minStack.peek()) minStack.push(). if(poppedElement == minStack.peek()) minStack.pop();
Q2: There is an array of numbers where the number are continuously increasing until any position. After which they are continuously decreasing. Find the element where this has changed.
A: binary search.
After the telephonic Interviews, I was called for onsite interviews where there were 5 rounds. Each of them had 2 questions. All technical and problem solving.
I dont remember all the questions now.
