Interviewed Apr 2012 in Seattle, WA (took 5 weeks)
Submitted resume online. Initial email contact from a recruiter who asked for time blocks but never responded back to me. About a week later, another email contact from a second recruiter who asked the same questions (mainly for time blocks for phone screen).
1st phone screen from hiring manager. He asked general questions about resume, background, and used my answers to guide me to an opening he thought fit.
2nd phone interview with a dev manager in a different group than the opening. General questions about project management methodology (how do you build a schedule, how would you plan for scalability, etc) and a hypothetical question about how I would build a mobile shopping app for a specific Amazon category.
3rd interview with another dev manager in a another group (not the group with the opening nor the group the 2nd interviewer was in). He asked about my background and resume. Asked two "big" questions: First, a technical one about how to find a specific usage sequence in log files. He wanted a very specific, very technical answer. Other question was more open-ended: how would you improve a specific feature on Amazon.com.
I would rate 1st interview as easy, 2nd as average, 3rd as difficult.
Note that their process is very opaque: Contacts from different recruiters who don't talk to each other, weeks between communications from recruiter, different answers on what the next step is from different people.

Applied on the website and contacted for first phone interview a week later. It went well and scheduled second one week later. But they did not call me at appointed time. Sent a follow up email and scheduled second round one month later. The interviewer was very aggressive and rude.

Interviewed Apr 2011 in Seattle, WA (took 2 days)
Two phone interviews, each an hour long and followed by an assignment that I have to submit before midnight.
The difficult level is similar in both interviews, I was asked about my background, some specific questions about past project. Then questions about data structure, system design, how to improve performance of a large system. Two interviewers were from different departments, and they introduced themselves as well as their current projects.
In the end of each interview, they asked me to solve a BST problem, we discuss the solution first, then he asked me to write the code of that solution(even though it may not be the best solution) and email them after the phone interview.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Seattle, WA (took a day)
2 Phone Interviews,
1st - Very technical, asked me to code online while the interviewer watched on a 'Collabedit' project. Didn't do well as I was out of touch with Java.
2nd - A much better interview, about basic concepts in programming, and general stuff about me and my professional goals.

Interviewed Apr 2012 in Seattle, WA (took 2+ weeks)
I was originally contacted via e-mail by a recruiter and told that the hiring manager wanted to speak with me. I had a 1hr conversation with the hiring manager that involved just a couple of SQL questions and then behavioral questions. A few days later the recruiter told me I would be moving to the next round and scheduled a 2nd interview 13 days later. The 2nd interview was a technical SQL interview that lasted 30 minutes.

Interviewed Apr 2012 in Seattle, WA (took 2+ weeks)
It was a recruitment day. There were 4 1:1 technical interviews. Basic algorithm questions - circular linked list, anagrams, evaluating arithmetic expression and flattening a tree and writing to a file. They were pretty simple and straight forward. The interviewers try to help you out with the answers. Did a couple of rounds very well, and a couple went ok, which I guess is the reason for rejection.
