Easy Interview

Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ weekinterviewed at Amdocs (Champaign, IL) in April 2012.

Interview

There was a quick phone screen and then an on-side interview. I spoke for about an hour with two directors and one manager. The questions were mostly addressing my history and what I wanted out of a job. They asked what my level of interest in various technologies was, and whether or not I felt okay with occasional on-call support.

Negotiation

The negotiation was very much a "take it or leave it", and then they required me to take a drug screen and a credit check. This is the first job I have ever had to take a drug screen for, it seemed inappropriate.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at Amdocs (Pune (India)) in November 2011.

    Interview

The first round is a written test comprises of 2 sections . aptitude and technical. The technical section will comprise of questions based on the technical skill sets required for the position. Like Unix,SQL,Java etc The aptitude is simple I got all write but the technical section is tough. Next is a face to face interview with most probably your team manager or some one senior in the same team. Once this is cleared you confront the HR which is more of negotiation except for the basic stuff like Why are you changing the job kind of question.

    Interview Questions

    • How to run a command in Unix while you are using vi editor to edit a file without coming out of the vi mode?   1 Answer

    Negotiation

For me the negotiation was simple I got what I asked and was satisfied. I would suggest on negotiating based on rational thinking like if your current employer is giving you well below your market value you could negotiate in that term based on what you want rather than % of hike else speak in terms of % the HR's here are practical and understand these things
