Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Fort Myers, FL Apr 2013 – Reviewed Jun 7, 2013 New
Interview Details – I was a walk in applicant, and when I turned in my filled in application the assistant manager asked a few questions and scheduled me for an interview on the spot. When I came in for the interview, the manager had had some time management issues and I ended up interviewing with another girl. The manager asked about previous job experience, what we knew about the company, why we wanted to work there, etc. We then had to take a personality test on the computers in the store. After it was all over, she told us that we would be called the following Wednesday on if we got the job or not. I didn't get a call on Wednesday, so I called the store and was told there was an issue so I would be called at a later date. I got the job offer the next day. The orientation was fine if not a little, there were about seven of us so you can figure out how long it took.
Interview Question – There were not any really difficult questions. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – I was simply told when to come in for orientation and how much I was being paid, there was no negotiation at all.
Declined Offer – Interviewed in New York, NY Nov 2011 – Reviewed Jun 11, 2013 New
Interview Details – They had a job fair where anyone can walk in with their resume and get interviewed at the spot. The manager was a cool relaxed guy although he kept asking question after the other without giving time to finish my last word. It felt like i was being rushed. But fun interview overall.

Interview Details – I met a recruiter at a college career fair and got set up with an interview for the next day. Interviewers were very nice and professional. They asked basic questions about my work experiences and views on their company. It was very trend intensive: they were looking for someone who follows fashion closely and knows their products well.

I handed in a print application on a Friday; the manager took a minute to flip through my application, and then told me to come in for an interview on Monday. He then called me later on Friday to let me know the exact time of the interview on Monday. I was very friendly on the phone, and when he asked "how are you?" I replied with the usual "good thank you" but also with a return of "how are you?" as well.
On Monday, the most unique part of the interview I remember was having to create a men's outfit out of the store's clothing. He gave me a scenario (weekend trip with friends) then let me be off to get creative.
Apparently I was one of the only people to come back to the manager with not only clothing, but with a wallet, sunglasses, and shoes as well. Once I had created the outfit, I then had to do a mock sales pitch and sell the outfit, and explain why I had chosen the clothes.
Interview Question – I used to be employed at HomeGoods, which sold rewards cards just like American Eagle Outfitters does. So the manager asked me to sell a HomeGoods rewards card to him, as if he were a customer buying the table we were leaning on. I did not take no for an answer. I explained how much money he could save (calculated 10% off in my head), then listed additional benefits. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – Did not negotiate. Was offered $8.25 an hour.

I got lucky. I went there just on time since they were hiring seasonal associates. The hiring manager accepted my resume and got me scheduled for an interview right there and then! It was a group interview. Very casual. For them to like you, you just have to be really friendly!! They ask you questions like, why AE, what is good customer service for you, and where do you get your fashion inspiration from.
They called me the same day to let me know I got the job! The orientation was the Sunday after that. And my first day was exactly a week after the orientation.
Interview Question – Where do you get your fashion inspiration from? View Answer
Negotiation Details – I didn't negotiate

Interview Details – Had to go in store to get application. They prefer it if you take it home and bring it back. I attached a letter of recommendation which impressed them (letter not mandatory). First impressions are very very important. You are judged from the moment you walk in their store and ask for an application. Make sure they remember you. The interview took about 15 minutes and then I filled out a 5 minute survey online in the back. They asked the basic questions: Why do you want to work here? When would you be able to start? Do you have transportation?
