Interviewed Jul 2011 (took a day)
I went in to apply in person and when I turned in the application I was asked 2 questions on the spot by one manager right then. Why did I want to work here? and How do I keep up with the fashion? I was given a interview the next day.

Interviewed Apr 2010 (took 1 week)
I was in a room with at least 16 people and the hiring manager asked us a few questions, then the applicants started to ask the hiring managers question about the jobs. when i first got hired i thought the questions were a bit silly, like if you could be an animal what would you be and why? like really? how does that help. But as time gone by the hr management team got so much better.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Des Peres, MO (took a day)
Went into the store on Friday and ran into an old co-worker who recommended I pick up an app and apply. The LOD told me to come back Monday before noon to turn it in. When I came in they asked "Why AE" and "Do you plan on staying with your current job, who is our competitor". I told them why and then I also told them yes to the second answer. Scheduled an interview for the next day, came in the actual interview took 30 minutes with a personality test. Was told that I will have an offer at the end of the day if my references approve.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in New York, NY (took 2 weeks)
Applied online, got a call two days later. Had a mini phone-interview with a DM, consisting of questions like "Why AE?" and "What sets you apart?". She scheduled a group interview for the next day. Twelve people in the group interview, I was the only one that applied online. Got interviewed by a person from HR, who made us fill out an online personality test, and then asked us general questions (she said we can only respond to the ones we feel comfortable responding). Filled out an application with my availability and references (guys, they DO call them, don't lie!) and that was it. Easy peasy!
Got a phone call later that day from I think the same DM, she scheduled an interview with a manager for the next day. It was a 1:1 interview, and super easy -- general questions. Cracked a few jokes, pretty informal. Informed me of the "look" policy (all AE, no overwhelming facial piercings) and discussed store hours. They asked what department I would most like to work in, and since they're opening up a 77KIDS in the basement of the store, I said I would like to work there. He seemed relieved.
Got a call 2 weeks later (at, like, eight in the morning!) telling me I got the job and to come to orientation. However, they said I'd be a better fit for the women's floor, so no 77KIDS for me! =(

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Raleigh, NC (took 1+ week)
I walked into American Eagle and asked for an application. I was greeted by a kind manager, then given an app. I decided to fill it out in-store, hoping to get an interview set up ASAP. She asked me why I wanted to work for American Eagle, I responded intellectually and rather quickly and she asked me if I could come in for an interview the next day. I went to the interview in the early afternoon, and was welcomed by the managers and felt very at-home. I was early so I perused the store, then waited for about 15 minutes before actually having my interview, where I was led to the back and asked very general questions about my interests and school. (They knew that I was 16 and that it would be my first experience in the professional workforce so not much was asked about my previous experiences.) After my interview, one of the managers assured me that she'd be in touch within the next week. By day 6, I hadn't heard anything and was beginning to feel uneasy. By day 9, I received a call from the manager saying that my reference had been contacted many times without a response, and that it had been her reason for not calling sooner. I gave her a different reference, she called them and gave me a call back on day 11, said everything went well and offered me the job.

Interviewed Jun 2011 (took 2 weeks)
Applied in store by filling out application and handing it into the manager. Manager went round back and came out a few minutes later and scheduled my interview for two days after. Interview was 1:1 and not overly formal. Questions revolved around reasons for wanting to work, experience working with others and other simple interview topics.

Interviewed May 2011 in New York, NY (took a day)
I was approached by the recruiter for the position and was clear on my salary and career goals. The position was not a good fit to my goals and I should not have been presented for consideration. The interview was a waste of time - both mines and theirs.

Interviewed Dec 2010 in Greenwood, IN (took 3 days)
First the district manager or another store manager will call and set up a one on one interview with you. Assuming they like you, they will then email you a link to take a survey where you select from a list of words that you feel describe yourself. This test in turn rates your personality and work ethic. You will also take a test consisting of questions pertaining to drug use and loss prevention. Assuming these results are positive, the district manager will then call and make you an offer.
