Interviewed Jul 2010 (took 2 weeks)
Seems like a good company. Interveiwer was very polite, returned all calls and email right away. Will be flown up soon for another interview and hopefully an offer for the job. I like they are not a public company, but a mutual carrier. Allows them to not have to answer to the stock holder. A positive at least in my book.

Interviewed Sep 2009 (took 2 weeks)
First there was an HR phone interview with general questions, like why did you apply for the job, why do you want to leave your current position, are you willing to re-locate, etc?
Second interview was with 2 interviewers and more job-specific questions were asked like how do you deal with stress, what was your greatest accomplishment, tell me about a time when you were a leader or set a goal and achieved it.

Interviewed Feb 2009 in Colorado Springs, CO (took 2+ weeks)
Met with the District Sales manager. He went over the full job description in detail. Basically, you are able to work in an existing agent's office, learn the business and learn about the company without making an investment into any office space or other buiness expenses. You are paid a flat salary from the company and you split the commisions from sales with the Mentor Agent you are paired up with. Before my intial interview with the District manager, I had to complete a skills assessment in a computer room. It was mostly a personality test from what I remember. If you do accept the position, you are required to attending a two month traning classroom enviroment to learn about the business and the companies products. You are paid during this training.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Madison, WI (took 2 weeks)
Received a telephone call to set up an initial screening about 1.5 weeks after submitting my application online. Initial screening was a telephone interview with HR recruiter for the position. It consisted mainly of a broad review of my skills and experiences listed on my resume. Received a call a day later to set up a face-to-face interview with the HR recruiter and hiring manager for the following week in Madison, WI. Interview was broken down into a few sections:
1. Review of skills and experiences listed on resume
2. A LONG list of behavioral questions (Give me a time when.....). This took the majority of the time
3. HR/Benefits discussion (the flexible work schedule and the immediate vesting the the 401k program caught my eye)
4. Interviewee's questions.
The interview was scheduled for one hour but lasted two. I didn't mind though, b/c it was a very thorough interview. My overall impression of the interviewers and few others I met from the company was good. Everyone I met was friendly, cordial, and knowledgeable in their field.
One piece of advice I can offer future candidate is practice, practice, practice your behavioral questions! Get one of those lists of all imaginable behavioral questions online, and do all of them.

Interviewed May 2009 in Bellevue, WA (took 3 weeks)
I was initially contacted by a district manager to come in, and I scheduled an appointment. We had a 36 minute informational interview. Then I had a series of credit and background checks which took quite a while -- nearly 10 days. Then we scheduled a formal interview. Their process is where they ask a question, ask how you made the decision about it, and what was the outcome of your decision. They do this three part process for every question. Next, I was given homework to do, and found ten people to talk about insurance with, and then took down their info. Finally, one more of those interviews with the three part answers.
They grade you on your answers numerically, and whoever the highest on the board are at the end of the week get the job, or at least that's what they said.

Interviewed Apr 2008 in Eden Prairie, MN (took 4 weeks)
I thought the interview process went very well and the HR staffing specialist was very personable and nice to talk and conversate with during the interview process. The staffing specialist remembered who I was when I called her and she was very outgoing and positive and explained the process very clearly. I understood what I was getting myself into and where were at with the hiring process. She was available for me to ask questions if I needed anything.

I wasn't able to negotiate much on compensation. I would suggest doing your research regarding salary ranges and also compensation benefits to make the negotiation and don't show that you are desparate for a job.
