Spoke to recruiter initially, then to the boss, both over the phone. Relatively standard interviews but make sure you know about the company. Very polite people, great culture.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Atlanta, GA (took a day)
HR contacted me within 3 days of applying and asked that I allotted 1 hour for a phone interview. We spoke on the phone for approximately 40 minutes. She first told me about the position and then she asked me questions about my past experiences, etc. She also told me that I would have to take a computer assessment test. I am currently waiting on the 3rd party company to contact me, so I can take the test.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in New York, NY (took a day)
I applied for the job online and was called for an interview. It was an 1:1 interview but there was another manger in the same room interviewing as well. He wasn't prepared and couldn't find the questions to ask on his laptop. After a couple of minutes he proceeded to ask me the basic questions and explained the job position in detail.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 4 weeks)
This whole process was STRANGE -
I responded to an ad on career builder that said Americans Greeting had 27 opening for PT Merchandisers in my area, so I applied. I was contacted within two days via email by the hiring manager. He had a question about the minimum I was willing to be paid since I had put $11.00 on my application and American Greeting s only paid $7.25 – $8.80 in my area. I wrote him back that $8.80 was fine. I got no answer so a week later I wrote him again to see if he’d gotten my first email and I repeated that $8.80 was fine. He said great, and that he would call me that day (he Never did). Two weeks past and I got an email from him asking me to send him my resume again. I did. The next day he emailed me asking what side of town I lived on, I didn’t know why he wanted this info but I told him. He wrote back that he would contact me as opportunities came available. I guess I’m hired but in standby???? I have not filled out any paperwork with this company as yet. I would love to work for American greeting so I’m just going to wait it out.

Interviewed Dec 2010 in Cleveland, OH (took 2 months)
I met with an HR representative at a college career fair - I had done my homework on the company beforehand and the positions they were hiring for (product development analyst & merchant analyst). From the first day at the career fair they had 1:1 interview positions for 20 candidates over the next two days. I secured one of these and my 1:1 was conducted by the Vice President of the company. I was extremely impressed by the fact it was not just an HR lackey they send to career fairs. The interview went really well and I received a phone call about 2 weeks later saying they wanted me to come to the 2 day interview event at world HQ in Cleveland. About 20 candidates were at the event - mostly from schools in Ohio and surrounding states. The event started with a meet and greet dinner and tour of the facilities. The employees we met with were all leaders within their divisions and all seemed excited to be talking to potential recruits. The facilities are gorgeous and they are even going to be updating - the only downside is world HQ is located in Cleveland. The next day consisted of lunch with employees who were hired within the last year in the positions we were interviewing for - they seemed a little overwhelmed to be talking to 4 recruits at once. After lunch there were 5 half hour individual interviews. 4 of which with employees in management positions of the interviewee area and 1 with a recruiter. Know your stuff - do thorough research on the company - come prepared with many questions to ask THEM and also have a portfolio of work you have done in the past that you can reference when answering questions.

Reason for Declining
I declined the offer because I was looking to move to a particular city. The salary was fabulous, the benefits for fabulous, and the people were fabulous, the only area where you are limited is location. If you are looking to move around or to a different city - the opportunity is just not there.

The interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview.

Interviewed Feb 2011 (took 3 weeks)
Applied via monster.com, Received e-mail asking for phone interview. Phone interview was conducted by a sales trainer, at the end of the phone call, she told me the next step was to take a computer skills test, at a third party office. I heard from that third party the next day, scheduled the test for two days later. The test was basic - Word, Excel, Outlook, but many of the day-to-day moves I use, like right click, were not recognized as the correct way to complete the directed step. Several questions wanted you to use the function keys to make a move and I haven't used those in years. When I left, they couldn't tell me if I passed, but I heard from the sales trainer the next day, scheduling an in person interview with hiring manager. Upon arriving at interview I was asked to complete a job application, the usual application; employment history, education - and questions on whether you've worked for them before, if any relatives work for them, if you've ever been convicted of a felony, and questions about driving record... Interview lasted a little over an hour, behavorial questions like "tell me about a time when you weren't proud of your accomplishment," " a time when you had to deal with an unhappy customer," and "a time when you had to give negative feedback to an employee." Also, questions like what you would do if you saw another employee being unethical, how you keep yourself organized, what would your former bosses say about you, and what sets you apart from the competition. Plenty of time for questions at the end, so you should have some. I was given info on benefits (very good) and signed a statement that I was aware a drug test and a driving record check would be conducted.

Interviewed Oct 2008 in Cleveland, OH (took 2 weeks)
Interviews were behavioral based questions (Tell me about a time when you...) There were two, two on one interviews and they lasted for approx an hour each. THe initial phone interview was handeled by their HR who called me to set up another time. It was easy. The face to face interviews were a little more intense - small room, but very nice people. ONe wrote while the other asked. THere was a period for asking questions at the end so have some ready. They told me what areas they had open for info purposes.
