Interviewed Jul 2010 in Torrance, CA (took 2 months)
Two phone interviews one with a senior program manager and one with a project manager. The junior HR lady who contacted me didn't remind the senior manager for my first phone interview and resulted a "NO SHOW." They later emailed an apology and rescheduled for next week. The first interview took about 40 minutes but manager had to rush for another meeting so it ended with many unanswered questions. They later scheduled another phone interview with a project manager to drill down more on my budgeting ability. This position requires project manager with experience managing multimillion projects especially in the automotive or telecommunication industry. Obviously I am a little weak in this area. After two phone interviews, it took them about a month and half to generate an email for not being considered for next step. I had a chance to visit Torrance, CA hoping to schedule a face-to-face interview. But again, the junior HR lady took her summer vacation and was not able to meet any of them.

Interviewed Sep 2009 in Torrance, CA (took a day)
I frequently get calls from recruiters about Honda in Torrance, and once I actually got a phone screen. American Honda DOES NOT hire directly, only through contractors. I was told that if I broached the subject of ever working for Honda as an employee, the call would be ended immediately. I assume this is so that Honda can engage in some kind of unlawful employment practice such as having the contracting firm screen out, say, blacks or people over 50. Anyway, I got the call, and the first question was, why do you want to work for Honda? I said I didn't know anything about what it would be like to work for Honda. Bzzt! Wrong answer. End of call.
