Interviewed Jul 2010 (took 5 days)
I was referred in by a sales rep with AMP. AMP has a strong referral program for employees. $500 bonus if the referral candidate is hired! The interview process starts with a phone interview with a recruiter, 1 on 1 interview with the DM, ride day in the field with a seasoned rep, script test to take a seat in training.
Amp work culture is as if you own your own business but with a ton of office, trainers, and management team to support you! AMP requires a strong work ethic. If one is looking for an easy sales job where you can make a couple sales and then go play golf or shop......this is not the company or job for them. If a potential candidate does not like to work hard everyday, be a self starter, efficient and organized, as well as make a ton of money.......this is not the company for you! LOVE AMP!

They want people who are going to work hard and are a good fit for the job. It is not for everyone.

Interviewed Apr 2012 in Milwaukee, WI (took 1 week)
30 minute interview, 20 minutes of question you and than 10 minutes of trying to sell you a position that offers only 25k base, and a lot of over hyped potential.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Columbus, OH (took 2 days)
I was first contacted by a hiring manager via e-mail with informtation about the company and an invitation to talk/set up a phone interview to discuss the position. The phone interview went very smoothly, discussing the position and some expectations, so a one on one interview was scheduled with the district manager for the next day. The interview was very open-ended and brief, lasting probably no more than 15 minutes He simply asked me to describe myself, without asking me any questions prior. Some discusion came from this and I was told the next step of the interview process consisted of a "ride along" observation day to observe a sales representative in the field. This is where I actually learned about the position, since not much was clarified in the interview. I was told in the interview that the prospective businesses to be contacted for sales would be provided for the representative, and learned in my ride along that that is not the case, and it is the sales rep. responsibility. It just seems very isolated and unsupported in that sense.

Interviewed Jan 2012 (took 3 days)
The Hiring Manager was all about me and seemed like she enjoyed talking to me and thought I would be a great fit to the company and sales team.
The phone interview was excellent.
The face to face with the DM was not so great..
He was rushed during the whole process, plus the office was hard to find due to a post it size emblem on the door. The DM did not let me fully answer my questions before moving on to the next question. I felt really rushed and did not get a full hour interview due to be rushed and the DM's interview before mine ran later. Maybe that's why he was rushed. He looked worried when he asked me if I read the reviews on Glassdoor.com. I now know why.
I would recommend not wasting your time with this process. I was really excited about possibly working for this company but they passed up on a great candidate that could have really excelled on their team. Good luck if you make past the DM.

Interviewed Aug 2010 (took 1+ week)
Got a call from their inside recruiter, who described the position, its requirements. Also asked qualifying questions, and described benefits policy. Then was asked to go on a "shadowing" ride with existing salesperson for a full day. That was followed up by a 1 on 1 interview with 2 people (different levels of management). I was offered the job and scheduled for a 5 day classroom training session, at which there were about a dozen others.
The training was basically brainwashing you about why it's a good idea these days to sell a phone directory when nobody uses them anymore. Hard to get into it, but it's a job.
Negotiation Details
No negotiation. Base + commission is the same for all.

Interviewed Aug 2009 in Dekalb, IL (took 5 days)
I was interviewed twice, once by the department manager and then a second interview with the COO. The questions seemed like they were pulled directly from a book about job interviews. The company hires mostly recent college grads, so that could have had something to do with it. There wasn't really room for negotiation on the pay. The person interviewing me actually seemed a little surprised that I had asked.
