Interviewed May 2010 in Los Angeles, CA (took a day)
Just asked basic behavioral questions, and talked about my personal interests and what I would like to pursue. It was different because engineers were conducting the behavioral interview and not HR people. Took a long time to get back to everyone than they said they would

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Thousand Oaks, CA (took a day)
I obtained a phone interview through a personal contact. The process was very rapid. I received a phone call directly from the hiring manager and set up a phone interview for the next day. My personal contact also called me, but we were unable to converse before the interview due to the fact that it was Mother's Day and I already had prior commitments.
The process was the most unprofessional that I've experienced thus far. I was not told what position I was interviewing for beforehand. The interviewer spoke rapidly despite a thick accent, forcing me to repeatedly ask for clarification. The interviewer also called an hour late for our interview with no apologies and was constantly shuffling papers and doing "other things" in the background throughout the course of the interview.

Interviewed Apr 2011 in Thousand Oaks, CA (took a day)
phone interview by the hiring manager first, and after a week I was informed for on-site interview
on-site interview, I need to give a 45 min presentation. 1:1 interview with many scientists. the final interview was with the hiring manager. the hiring manager was nice in the morning to me, but after my presentation, which I think I did a good job with, she became not that nice. At that time I already felt my chance to get the offer was slim. Now I realized she would like me to talk about my PhD work, not my postdoc research.
Anyway, good experience although I didn't get the offer.

Interviewed Feb 2011 in Thousand Oaks, CA (took a day)
I have interviewed for 4 positions already but no offer, I have developed a sense that Amgen Hiring managers/managers just can not recognize talent, or are threatened by one, and that is why overall the company is not developing new drug but rather making the same drug work for different indication.

Interviewed Apr 2011 in Thousand Oaks, CA (took a day)
I had a phone interview first, which was followed about 7-10 days later with an offer to come visit Thousand Oaks. I gave a seminar and interviewed all day. Everyone I spoke with was very positive, but I did get asked a lot of tough questions. About 10 days after interviewing I received an offer and accepted.

Interviewed Oct 2010 in Thousand Oaks, CA (took 1 week)
The response was very quick between the recruiter and the manager. (~5 days between first contact and interview). Upon arriving for the interview, checked in with the receptionist and received a visitor's pass. Manager was late for interview, and didn't have time to reserve a conference room for our interview so we found an enclave and sat down. She was very thorough with explaining the company's philosophy and gave an extremely detailed job description. I was a little caught off guard because she did not ask me many questions regarding my experience. Just a brief look-over of my resume, and then left it up to me to ask questions. I asked a lot and managed to get a little more detailed about my experiences.
The interview only lasted about an hour - she actually had her gym bag with her and said that's where she was going afterwards. She was very friendly, and after my questions, we chatted for a view minutes about graduate school and the like.
I was not offered a job, but the recruiter said the manager had decided to hire from within the company. Also, I received the decision about 3 days after my interview.
Advice: I have another contact within Amgen, and he told me to look over their 9 points listed on their company website and to make reference to them whenever possible. (Be scientific, work in a team, etc.)
Get there about 30 minutes before your interview because they have a large campus, and you will need to find visitor parking and then check in with a pass with the receptionist.

Interviewed Apr 2010 in Thousand Oaks, CA (took a day)
Asked mostly behavioral interview questions. Generally laid back, and did not ask any finance-specific questions. I was set up with a recent graduate who seemed like he really didn't want to be there interviewing.
Some examples: What three adjectives would you use to describe yourself? Give an example of how you've used leadership in one of your classes.
Be sure to have some questions of your own for the interviewer.

Interviewed Apr 2008 in Thousand Oaks, CA (took a day)
Interviewed lasted all day, but ended with the CIO. Various questions were asked pertaining to expertise, issue resolution, difficult situations and team dynamics. Overall, not a bad process which consisted of 1:1 and panel discussions. Subsequent day was spent with their relocation specialist on an "area tour" of the housing situation and tour of Thousand Oaks, CA in general. The interview went well as while I was with the realtor, I received the verbal offer.
