I applied through college or university – interviewed at Anadarko Petroleum.

    Interview Details

Unlike most oil and gas companies, Anadarko recruiters are given the ability to hire interns directly without having to go back to HR. The process usually involves an initial wave of interviews with most interested students on campus. This first interview was short (~10 minutes) and rather combative. Second interviews were then conducted that afternoon with a handful of those who interviewed in the morning. The second interview was predominately a discussion about my thesis and previous work history, and I don't recall any behavioral questions being asked. Offers were made the following business day.

I applied online. The process took 4+ monthsinterviewed at Anadarko Petroleum in May 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied for an Aviation Safety Advisor position in January of 2014, received an invitation for an interview in April. The interview was with a panel of decision makers within the department. All of the questions were pretty straight forward, no surprises. Everyone I met was very kind, considerate and accommodating. The interview itself took about 2 1/2 hours and was semi informal. I received a tour of the facilities and then met with an HR representative. Overall it was a very positive experience.

    Interview Questions
    • The only difficult questions asked involved my knowledge of the company. I had some difficulty answering which was my fault for not researching more.   Answer Question

Applied and got accepted for an interview through my universities career center. The interview was pretty straightforward and just talking about my resume. No technical questions. Invited to a dinner with them the next day. Did not make it through to the final interview. They whole turnaround from first interview to an offer would have been under a week though.

I applied online. The process took 1+ weekinterviewed at Anadarko Petroleum.

    Interview Details

I filled out an application and submitted a resume on line. Next, I was asked to take an exam. About a week later, I got a call from the senior manager who was seeking to fill that position. We set up a time for a phone interview. After the phone interview, I was invited to visit the office in Denver, and speak to the that manager and a team member in a face to face interview. Lots of behavioral questions - very few technical questions. I was invited back for a 3rd interview - this time with a director. Here is where it went downhill. I arrived on site 10 minutes early, and asked the guard at the desk to let the director know that I was in the waiting room. 10 minutes later, I asked the guard if he had contacted her - he said "yes". After another 10 minutes of waiting, I nudged him again - and this time he finally broke down and called the director. It turns out he had only emailed her... he had never actually picked up the phone.

By now I am 15 minutes late for my interview. The director appeared moments later, looking a little perturbed. I apologized for being late and told her the guard was having trouble locating her - but she was having none of it. She dismissed my apology and went on to explain that the manager who had originally contacted me was no longer in that position - and she would be making the final choice. At the end of the interview, she promised to let me know one way or the other. She never contacted me again. I followed up with her a week later and was informed "We went with an internal candidate".
