Anne Arundel County Public Schools Teacher Interview

Posted Jan 15, 2012

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Gambrills, MD Jul 2010 – Reviewed Jan 15, 2012

Interview Details – About 2 months after applying online, I received a phone call from an administrator to set up a phone interview since I lived out of state. On the day of the phone interview, there was a panel of administrators (principal and two assistant principals) who interviewed me in a conference call. The interview lasted approximately 35-40 minutes. They asked me a lot of in-depth, technical and situation-specific questions. Two days later, I called them to see if I was offered the job, which I was.

Interview Question – I honestly don't remember - there were so many questions. I didn't find them difficult, since I have many years of experience in the field, but I do remember that they were very situation-specific.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – No negotiation for salary was possible. After I was told that I got the job, I had to call the HR department, I was told what my salary was going to be, and from here on it was a nightmarish bureaucracy with many-many phone calls and in-person visits to the HR, regarding my certifications and getting all my data right in their computer system. The HR department seems to be rather disorganized and inefficient.

Other Details - I applied online and the process took 2 days.
