Interviewed Jun 2011 in Farnborough, Hampshire, South East England, England (United Kingdom) (took a day)
I applied for the 2011 intake of actuarial consultants, on the graduate scheme.
The company initially took a while to respond to my application. I applied in April 2011 and after successfully passing numerical and verbal reasoning psychometric tests, I had to e-mail written responses to some personality profiling/motivation questions. It wasn't until June that I was invited to the assessment day, which was held at the Farnborough office.
The assessment day was however excellent. Friendly assessors and contact with graduates who had recently joined, as well as more senior and experienced employees. The work culture seemed open and everyone is supposedly approachable, even the partners and senior associates. However I have been to virtually no interviews where the company didn't claim that this is the case! Office is fine, noting special and situated on the outskirts of Farnborough, which is a small sleepy place - not an amazing location. Probably good place to live if have family however.
The assessment day itself consisted of three activities:
1) A 3-minute pitch, where you basically sell yourself and explain why you should be offered the job. Presented to two assessors, one from HR and one associate. Followed by questions from both.
2) An interview, approximately 45-60 minutes, again given by two assessors, one from HR and an associate. Some competency questions, as well as motivation and business awareness/acumen questions. Also a bit of a "how many bubbles" question at the end - mine was "how many ties are being worn right now in the UK".
3) A formal debate (English parliamentary style) lasting approx 50 minutes. Preceding this was a 20 minute preparation process, with the other members of your debate team (there were three to a team). The debate and prep were both observed by a large panel of associates and HR people, who formed the floor for the debate (and thus voted for the winner).
And truly astounding lunch.
My advice - prep well and research for the debate. Look carefully at both sides as you only get assigned a team once you're at the office. Also, take your time in the 3-minute pitch. I don't think I came across that well as I was rushing to try and get everything out.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Philadelphia, PA (took 4+ weeks)
First - a phone interview with the recruiter in Chicago, second - a phone interview with the hiring manager, third - on site interview. The on site interview consisted of interviewing with hiring manager and another team member in Philadelphia office in the morning and then meeting with four other people at the Radnor office in the afternoon. The interviews were very repetitive and tiring at the end (tell me about your work experience, what are you looking for, etc).
Aon Hewitt is still trying to work out the HR kinks of the merger, so that's why I had to go to two different office locations. The job posting was for the Philadelphia office, but when I got to the Radnor office an interviewer told me that I pretty much had to come to the Radnor office 2-3 days a week to get familiar with that team otherwise it would be detrimental for my career. It would have been nice to know that prior to the on site interview because that would have been a factor for me moving forward since I only wanted to work in the Philadelphia office.
They seem like a great company, but they are definitely looking for a specific type of person with specific experience.

Interviewed Jun 2010 (took 3 weeks)
I applied online and was sent a questionairre to complete a few days later. The questionairre asked for basic information and for my technical skills. After that I was called the next day to set up a phone interview. All of the questions for the phone interview are behavioral, but when answering try to stick with technical examples. My onsite interview was set up at the end of my phone interview for later the same week. My interviewers were very calm and easy to talk to. Again all of the questions are behavioral but try to stick with technical examples. After that interview I was offered the position about a week later.

Interviewed May 2011 in Atlanta, GA (took 2 weeks)
A recruiter contacted me about 3 days following my initial application. She requested a questionairre that listed several questions regarding eployment : (desired salary, willing to work overtime, date available, what do you know about the company, etc). Then we had a phone interview and I then proceeded to the next stage of the hiring process a group/panel interview. The interview had 2 current employees and lasted for about an hour. I was asked about 7 behavioral questions and was given time to ask questions.

Interviewed May 2011 (took 3 weeks)
Recruiter initiated contact via email. Filled out pre-screen word document questioner regarding skill sets and pay requirement; sent back via email. A phone interview was set up. Phone interview consisted of basic questions about my work background and education, than a couple behavior style questions. In person interview was setup for 3 days later and consisted of two 1 on 1 in-person and 1 phone conference interview. All three "accessors" were relaxed, friendly and easy going, which made the interview comfortable and fun. 30 mins for each "accessor." "Accessors" gave brief background on the company and position, than delve into questions regarding my resume. Next were behavior style question which are best answered using the SAR's method. The remainder of each interview composed of answering questions I had and each of the accessors did a excellent job of answering my questions. I asked a lot of questions so the number of behavior questions asked to me were limited by time. I believe the key to acing the interview is to know about the company, its industry and the position, and to be genuinely be interested. 15 mins after leaving the interview I was called by the recruiter, told to expect a formal answer soon. Was offer the position, along with a benefit package the following morning. Offer was contingent upon passing standard drug screening and background check. Overall was a good experience.

Interviewed May 2011 in Chicago, IL (took a day)
Had a phone interview with HR, and the set up an interview with 4 low level analysts. Interview consisted of behaviorial based interview question, like how do you handle this, give me an examle of this. Throughout the 2 hour interview I don't feel as if any of the questions held any substance, not 1 math question, not 1 analytical question and not 1 question regarding my qualifications. It was obvious they are looking for people who can follow orders from the top and not Analysts who actually know what is going on and analysts who are going to contribute their opinion they simply want analysts who do what they are told.
