Interview Details – First I was sent a few questions for a written interview, then after a week or so an opportunity to schedule an sit-down interview. This interview consisted of two supervisors that I would be working with. Finally, a formal offer an a LOT of paperwork. The only negative besides the paperwork was the amount of time between hearing from the company, at times I had no idea what was going on.

Interview Details –
It was a group interview for 2 positions, Corporate Education Liaison and Enrollment Counselor. While the first round of interviews was very organized, it was highly competitive. Nearly 30 candidates were asked to compete with each other on presentation skills. There was no opportunity to speak with the panel one on one.
Round 2 interviews were more disorganized. I was called in but when I arrived there was no one available to greet me. The interviewer was still conducting an interview with another candidate. As there was no where else to wait other than in the hallway outside the interview, I was able to listen in on nearly the entire interview. After waiting for 45 minutes, the interviewer finally came out and seemed surprised to see me. After we discussed the position in more detail, I decided that the job and the salary range was not what I was looking for.
Interview Question – Take 5 minutes to interview the person sitting next to you. Then give a presentation on why that person should get the job. Answer Question

I told the recruiter specifically, that I am looking for an IT Manager position, and not interested in any other developer jobs they had open.
The hiring manager called me did a phone screen, and wanted to meet me.. so I did the 40 mile trek and met with him. It went very well; he wanted me to meet some of his other team members the next week, I agreed and we scheduled a date. I reiterated that I am looking for a business analyst/management position, and it has been over 6 yrs after had written a piece of code; my skill is best suited in performing code reviews and functioning as the business / IT liaison than a developer.
Hiring manager calls me, says he would realllly like me to take some programming skill test they have - just the standard stuff they do and that it is no big deal. So I brushed up my forms books, and went to meet with the others.
I do the 40 mile trek again, Hiring manager is no where in sight - I waited for 30 min, one of the other "Managers" (peers for the position being interviewed) come out and receive me he took me spoke to me for 5 min, explained me the duties of the IT Managers.. basically we do all the development work, includes forms and reports writing. Developers write PL/SQL, Sr, Manager manages us, and we don't have any business analysts; gave me a question paper - forms & reports, and showed me a pc and left. I managed to finish all the items - barely as all my programming skills were as a b/e developer and a DB Designer.
I am still waiting to hear from any of them from that company.. (about a yr after)
*** Highly unprofessional company ***

No Offer – Interviewed in Phoenix, AZ May 2009 – Reviewed Jun 1, 2009
Interview Details – My first and second interviews were with the VP of the hiring department. The first interview was question and answer - a brief review of my resume and experience. I was also asked about why I was looking for a change in job. For the second interview I was asked to prepare a presentation based on the VPs direction document about how I would execute as director. The presentation was for the VP only. The 3rd interview was a panel discussion with the VPs direct reports - three directors in the department. The interview was the presentation I gave to the VP, and about 20 minutes of questions. Key questions were: how would I respond to a situation where I made a recommendation, but the department receiving the recommendation would not implement it? Another question was: how do I foresee expanding the role of IT risk management from security focused to broader IT risk management? Finally, another question was: how do I plan on working with enterprise risk managment?

Interview Details – The interview process was condensed through the use of a placement agancy. The client, Apollo Group, sent a predetermined selection of qualities to the agency which used these identifiers to select potential candidates. The agency's staff conducted the primary interview to gauge interest and sent the candidate to hiring manager the following day. After a sucessful face to face interview was conducted with the hiring manager the offer for employment was extended within 2 days.

Negotiation Details – There were no options presented for negotiation at the time of my hiring. Given my current location and position, I can recommend going straight to the source for hiring to gain leverage in salary negotiations. As Apollo Group is a strictly regulated organization, there is no give-way in benefit negotiations, but bonuses and stock options can be discussed at the proper level. You will rise quickly within the organization if you posess the right qualities, so focus less on salary and more on the comprehensive benefit package rarely offered these days.
