Apple Non-Technical Manager Interview

Posted Sep 12, 2012

No Offer – Interviewed in Sacramento, CA Feb 2011 – Reviewed Sep 12, 2012

Interview Details – Initial screening interview with the recruiter was pretty standard and easy. Recruiter was actually really easy to talk to and funny. Had phone interview with hiring manager and two peers. A couple of behavioral type questions, but mostly just questions to understand my background and interest in the position. After that, I went to the office for 4-5 in person interviews. Everything was well organized and fairly standard. The only off putting thing was that I had another interview with the hiring manager and he asked me some of the same questions, but asked me not to use the same examples I had used before. There was also one interviewer that threw in a case-based Question that I wasn't really prepared for because I had read (and had friends that work there told me) that Apple didn't do that type of interviewing.

The other weird thing is that you are not allowed to go to the bathroom by yourself. They stand outside the door and wait for you (not in the bathroom, though!). It's sort of weird.

I wouldn't say anything negative about the interview process IF they had called and let me know that I didn't get the job. I had to call my friend that worked there and ask her the status. I had called the recruiter and was told he was waiting to hear of their decision and that he would call me back and then he never did.

Interview Question – How would you estimate Best Buy's share of iPhone cases.   Answer Question

Other Details - I applied through an employee referral and the process took 2 weeks.
