Interviewed Jul 2010 in Minneapolis, MN (took 2 days)
The Apple recruiter called me. We spoke for an hour. In that time, I was asked two different sets of questions, one for Macintosh computers, another for PCs. The Macintosh based questions were more focused towards operating system questions, along with a couple of questions about RSS feeds and how to prevent ESD (Electro Static Discharge...ie static shock). The PC questions were more "hard hitting" so to speak, and generally were not put well. All questions were multiple (guess) choice, assumed knowledge of random computer acronyms, and the recruiter had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. The questions were absolutely inappropriate for the job and quite frankly, I came to the conclusion that I didn't want to work for the company after going through the process. I love fixing computers, have two years experience working on both PCs & Macs in a corporate environment, and Apple wouldn't give me the light of day to put another tech on the other end of the line. When I asked the interviewer what she thought about the new Intel chipsets, I swear I heard crickets start chirping. Screw them. The interview could have been done in 1/4 the time, I could have communicated 5X more about myself, and I would have at least been given a second interview. All I wanted to do was fix Apple computers to get my Apple certification for free. That way I could start my own computer repair business as an Apple certified tech. Whatever. I realize I'm bitter, but not unjustifiably so...
BIG TIP: be on an Apple computer when talking on the phone.

Interviewed May 2010 in Minneapolis, MN (took 2 weeks)
The interview process took a very very long time for the position, which was the 2 year internship which would basically make you an assistant manager of the store. From what I gathered was that they were basically looking to fill in-store specialist spots and generally after working in the same store for 2 years if you are motivated you can become a general manager.

Interviewed May 2009 in Minneapolis, MN (took 2 weeks)
I was the eager beaver trying to get the sales job. I asked to speak with the hiring manager, spoke with him on the phone, and asked if they were hiring. The guy was very nice and said they were looking to fill a position. He asked me some basic screening/interest questions, asked me to come in to talk, and I did about a week later. It was simple questioning about my use of apple products. I was happy-go-lucky in my demeanor and had a bunch of Apple gear (iPhone, Macbook, used a Pro for work, AppleCare, MobileMe), so I got through to the second interview a week later. That went okay (it was with an assistant manager and the lead Tech supervisor), but it was soon apparent in the interview that they were looking for someone with certain special experience in software (maybe a "Creative"? or Demo person?) that I didn't have. So, the weekend passed and I got an email on Tuesday saying they gave the job to someone else. The end.

Interviewed Jul 2007 in Roseville, MN (took 1 week)
I posted my resume online to Apple's website. 4 months later I received a phone call asking if I was still interested in a job. I told him I was and we scheduled an interview. He asked me about my background with technology and my ability to communicate that to people.
After the initial interview, I was called in for a second interview which was about 2 minutes long where he offered me the job.
I feel a key factor in being hired was that I was passionate about the products and love showing them to people. Apple doesn't like their specialist to be the typical salesman, trying to up sell all their customers. This passion for their company isn't really something you can fake. It's obvious if you know and love their products or if you're looking for a part-time job just to get by.
