Interviewed Mar 2011 in Montreal, QC (Canada) (took a day)
I want to contribute something back to glassdoor.com since it helped me a lot in preparing for the interview.
I received an email saying that I was selected as a candidate to attend their hiring event, which was to occur in a week from then. Within this week, you have enough time to get yourself prepared, and should read up a bit about Apple if you don't know anything about the company.
The hiring event was held at a 5-star hotel. Once I got there, I had to sign in and fill up the "availability" sheet (in case you get selected, they will check your availabilities for the next interview). I waited for 15 mins and meanwhile, I was about to chat with other candidates. We were 8 candidates in total. Everyone was nice and friendly.
We were brought into a room where Apple employees would clap while you enter the room. We were then given the time to mingle with all the Apple workers and just tried to get to know each other. I like small groups because I managed to talk to everyone and get myself introduced. I encourage you to make the effort to know the names of all the Apple workers. If too complicated, write it down for yourself.
Afterwards, they showed us a video about Apple's work environment in general, and introduced the Leadership Program. It was very brief, nothing different from the job post on their website.
In the end, we were split into 2 teams and we each had a different case problem to deal with. We had 20 mins to come up with the solutions. Then we were to make a presentation for 15 mins. The questions were:
1. What are the ideas for a LONG-TERM success to sell iPAD in RETAIL stores? (the words in capital are the important points in my opinion).
2. What are the ABC's of unexpected services that Apple should provide? For example, the team answered A for Accessibility, B for Building relationship with customers, and C for Community.
After the presentation, we were given some feedback from the recruiters. Then we just chatted a bit. That was the end of the hiring event.
They called us within an hour to let us know whether we made it or not. Unfortunately I didn't make it to the 2nd round. But after attending the session, I still want to work at Apple store and will apply for job positions. Maybe they are correct, I am not the "Leader" type but I know I can do well if it were for another job position.
p.s. During the hiring event, I met an awesome friend whom I am still keeping in touch. It's also good to keep in mind that networking is important.
Overall, the experience was a lot of fun but it could be challenging because the case problem is not always easy.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Montreal, QC (Canada) (took a day)
I applied for a job at Apple online, about a month later i got an email from the human resources manger at my local retail Apple store inviting me to take part in a recruitment seminar. When i got to the store around 30 min early, i was the first one there and had asked to fill out a from which tested your knowledge of Apple products and asked you to fill in some personal information. The seminar was fun, and was informal. Next day i got a call from Apple asking me to take part in a second interview with 2 managers.

I was called in to attend an Apple Recruiting Seminar with about 15 other people that last two hours. When I entered the store, the Apple employees didn't reach out to shake my hand - I think they wanted to see who would take the initiative to shake theirs. Keep in mind this whole seminar is a hiring process and they are looking at everything you do. I was asked to fill out a form with a series of about 20 technical questions on the back, some of which could be pretty difficult (How would you explain what an Operating System is to a customer?), at least for me. This is not as important as how you present yourself, however.
We then started with an Apple promotional video and were then asked to make observations. We then went around the whole group and were asked to introduce ourselves, list a "fun fact" and explain why we wanted to work for Apple. After that we were shown a series of presentations of videos, stopping in between each one to ask questions or make observations. No role play or presentations (thank god!).
The goal is to present yourself very enthusiastically so that you stand out from the group. Participate whenever you can but don't raise your hand if you don't have something intelligent to say. I spoke about three times aside from my introduction.

After applying online, I got an e-mail about two weeks later from the HR of the store I applied for. They told me there was a hiring seminar this weekend and invited me to be part of it.
It took place in a nice hotel downtown. There were about 50 other people. We were asked upon arrival to fill out a form about our general MAC knowledge. Dress code was urban/casual. I felt a bit nervous since the other applicants were all Apple geeks, with their Macbooks and iPhones, but the Apple reps were really nice and talkative.
We listened to a 2-hour long presentation about the company and its products. They asked general questions about who owned which products and what our opinion of it was. I think the most important is that you participate a lot while answering those questions, since it'll make them remember you and how much you were interested.
Overall, it really felt like a nice conversation with no trick questions. I'm still waiting for an e-mail response from them, and hope to make it to the 1:1 interviews.
