Interviewed Apr 2010 in Roosevelt, NY (took 4 weeks)
First off. There needs to be a "still interviewing" selection. I chose the accept offer option because I haven't been denied yet.
My first interview came after the usual email to an apple event. Where I was selected from "Thousands" of applicants. Once I arrived, there were about 15 other candidates and about 12 apple employees. Which consisted of 3 store managers 8 specialists, and a market manager. As the presentation began, they shuffled around the room speaking to us in groups of 5. This part was kind of confusing because a lot of them asked us the same questions. This one guy was so shy he couldn't look them in the eye for more than 2 seconds! In my opinion, with a good sense of humor and confident body language you are sure to stand out. The key to this initial phase is to shine. You cannot be shy and you MUST make eye contact. You must give them a reason to remember you.
In the next phase of the interview, we were paired with another candidate and asked to introduce them by name, one fun fact, and why they should be considered to work for Apple. Now this part is extremely important because this is where your true personality comes to light. They need to see that you are vibrant and can speak loud and clear while under pressure. One group went up there and did so bad that they were asked by the market manager to go up again and answer a missed question. I felt so bad for them.. And to make matters worse the guy said that he didn't have any fun facts about his partner because his korean accent was too strong to understand. I cringed after that statement. They were clearly disqualified.
This segment is about you.. so make sure you stand out even if it takes a joke or an out of the ordinary experience. Furthermore, After this interview we were told that we will be emailed or called for the next phase. Which would be a 1:1 interview. They also made it very clear that getting a job with Apple is harder than getting into an ivy league institution. VERY INTIMIDATING statement IMO.
Thankfully, I received a call the next afternoon asking to come in to an apple store for a second interview. I went in there expecting a 1:1.. But it was actually 5 of them asking me random questions about experiences and such. I was nervous at first, but my experience spoke for itself and I finished up pretty well. The key is also asking very good questions. They loved the fact that I seemed interested in the company. I made them feel good about their work and they actually laughed and joked with each other for about 3 minutes just because of one question. That interview lasted about 25 minutes.
Two days later I got a call for a final interview with the market manager. I was so excited that I was called back so quickly. It's been two weeks now and I'm already at the final step. I was told this could take more than a month. This interview is next week and I am extremely optimistic.
However.. the crazy part about it all is there has been NO clarification as to which position I am going towards. I would think that they may address that in the final interview as they most likely decide based on how well you do. I am hoping to become a Genius. I'll be sure to update this as soon as I find out how it all went.
Wish me luck!!

Don't be shy.. Make eye contact and smile! Apple is a geeks company.. but they would rather a bright and optimistic person than a shy know it all.

Interviewed May 2010 in Freehold, NJ (took 1 week)
Received an email from an Apple Store that I had recently applied to, asking me to come in and attend their invitation only recruiting seminar. From what I've read so far, this email was more specific to genius/creative positions rather than specialist/concierge.
Looking to get some information from what to expect.

Interviewed Apr 2010 in New York, NY (took 2 days)
Applied online and they contacted me via email to set up a date for a one to one interview. After the first interview, they said I would have to interview with 2 more people. They made time for me to interview 2 and 3 on the same day so I didn't have to come back twice. I was confident that I had the job after the first interview. One advice for the interview is to just keep talking.

Interviewed Apr 2010 in New York, NY (took a day)
First, I got an email from the store telling me I've been selected for an interview out of "the thousands of hopefuls" who applied. They asked for me to tell them when I can meet. We corresponded over email to schedule a time. I went in and met with the store manager one on one. He asked questions about how I would approach a potential customer and what would I say. He also asked questions about what certain words met. The interview progressed very quickly and lasted maybe 20 minutes.
