Process Engineer at Applied Materials

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Santa Clara, CA Mar 2009 – Reviewed Oct 17, 2012

Interview Details – As a Ph.D. student I applied to Applied Materials through a job fair and could not get an on campus interview for a couple of reasons due to the Universities policy. I did not think about them until 6 months later when I got a call from a recruiter to have a phone interview. I passed the phone interview and was asked to come to California for an interview event. There were about 60 candidates at the interview event ranging from bachelor to Ph.D. The first day they told us about the company and gave us a tour. The second day were interviews. I had 6 interviews that day and others had anywhere between 1 and 6. The next day they called and offered me a job.

Interview Question – No difficult or unexpected questions. Mostly they were all behavioral type questions supplemented with questions about my research.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – There was no big negotiation room in 2009 when I was offered a position. There where few jobs to be had and I got one so I took it. They gave me 1 working week to decide.
