Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Arlington, VA Jul 2010 – Reviewed Jul 12, 2010
Interview Details – Very comfortable and suprisingly pleasant experience. Not a fan of interviews, but who is. Regardless, this was a very painless experience. I felt very welcomed and enjoyed speaking to every Archstone associate I encountered along the way. I would recommend that every applicant review their website as in depth as possible.

Interview Details – 9 times out of 10 you will only get the job if you know someone who works there. Thats the only reason they kept me going in the interview and onboarding process. I had to continually follow up with them. Everyone was disorganized. I was only applying for part time weekend position and I had to do 10 drug tests in the process of three months after I got the job offer. Every time I showed up for an interview it seemed like it was a suprise to everyone who was interviewing me. Felt like every person that was meeting me made their decision to hire me because they were attracted to me, not because they listened to anything I said. Did not have any experience in real estate or with any other property management company or hotel, but they say that to people they don't think are attractive enough to work there. Archstone is very about your appearance-- which I later learned after working for the company...sort of like how Abercrombie and Fitch only invites you to apply for a position there when they see you shopping in the store. You have to have a certain look.

No Offer – Interviewed in Alexandria, VA Feb 2009 – Reviewed Mar 20, 2009
Interview Details – I was contacted my their in-house recruiter who found my resume online. The recruiter was initially very fast to get back to me, and conducted an initial phone interview. Following the phone interview, he asked that I complete a online skills/IQ/Background test. I found the test to be extremely lengthy and required you to really focus. (A lot of SAT like questions, including math and vocabulary) Almost immediately after completing the assessment, he called back and conducted another phone interview. I was very impressed by their quick response. He scheduled an in person interview for two weeks later. Their office was pretty empty, and seemed almost vacant. I was told that I would meet with an area manager, but upon arriving I was told that it would be a panel interview including the VP as well. The interview took about an hour, but it was mostly involved them talking about other people within the company. I was not able to explain my experience much, and felt that it was a little out of the norm. They did not even ask me about what I would bring to the table. They informed that they would take three weeks to make their decision, and I followed up with the appropriate thank you notes and emails. I got no response, even after contacting the recruiter, I got a lot of empty promises about them contacting me later in the week. Apparently, they do not like to tell someone no, or follow up. This says alot about the organization, and I don't think I would be a good fit within it.
Interview Question – They did not ask many questions during the actual interview session, but during the telephone interview they asked about customer service. The online assessment asked a lot of number sequence and word correlation questions. Answer Question
