Prepare for SQL Server and T-SQL from Microsoft MSDN as its the best source. Further the intern is just for 12 weeks but worth to get in.....

Interviewed Oct 2007 in Chicago, IL (took 4+ weeks)
First, had a preliminary on-campus "open" interview with behavioral questions -- anyone who signed up got an interview. There was no preselection for that part of the process. Then we were required to submit a short essay about why we wanted to be a journalist. Then applicants were invited to take news writing test and interview with bureau chief. All the questions were behavioral and about past experiences. The bureau sends along 2-3 recommendations of who they like, and the New York office makes the final decision.
