the interview included phone conversation, background check, 1:1 discussion. The interviewers wanted to know about my past history in the field that i applied for job. the technical questions included deep technical dive to many aspects of the technology. the interviews with high level management included salary expectation and bonus discussion, basically on what i earned from my previous employer.

The phone interview was pretty detailed. Lots of detailed questions about C and networking.... enough detail that I had to write down diagrams on paper to make sense of the questions. The in-person interviews consisted of C coding, describing the projects I have worked on, networking questions, cpu architecture, board bringup, behavioral questions -- it was pretty thorough. If you understanding of networking (L2/L3) is solid and you are a strong C programmer you'll do fine. But given my experience at QCA -- I'd say beware. Make absolutely sure you will be working on development (and not just bug fixing).

Negotiation Details
They were very inflexible when it came to negotiations. They pretty much said 'no' to everything and anything i asked for. That being said the offer was pretty good so I really shouldn't complain.

I was contacted for a phone interview. I passed that and got an onsite interview the next week.
Interview process was very technical. 10 people who asked questions for 5 hours.

Contacted by the recruiter who set up a phone interview. Was asked questions on network device driver and c programming questions like static global vs static etc. Mac header for 802.11. Did not go very well as I do not experience with network device drivers. After 2 days I got a reject mail from recruiter.

This was a thorough interview, with 8 or 9 people interviewing me over a day lasting from about 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
It's important to stress recent experience with the C language, and be prepared to code some simple algorithms quickly (e.g., how would one scan a linked list, how are list members inserted, etc.)
The culture is typical for Silicon Valley.

Saw opportunity online, sent resume to recruiter, was invited for an interview with the hiring manager a few days later .The manager was technically hands-on. The questions were fair, and could be answered faster by a person who worked on the issues recently. This is a fast pace environment.

The interview started with a phone interview one day before. And then, there is an on-site interview for the next day. The managers are very friendly to me. We had brief lunch together talking about the general available projects at Atheros and followed by four 1:1 interviews. The interviews were to test my basic understanding as well as practical skills about integrated circuit designs. The questions are very reasonable and well-designed. The interviewers are very sharp but nice and friendly.
