Difficult Interview

Business Office Manager Interview

Business Office Manager
New York, NY

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Atria Senior Living in March 2014.

Interview Details – Interviewed with the recruiter over the phone. I received a call a week later to set up a time to interview with the Director of the community (which I thought went well as she said I would definitely be hearing from her). I called and emailed both the recruiter and the Director a week later, and then a week after that to follow up, didn't get a reply from neither. I thought that was very rude and unprofessional! I figure if that's how their people/company operates, I wouldn't want to work for them anyway and consider it their loss. Warning: Pay is VERY low for the responsibilities and expectations. And in order for the Directors to make their bonuses, there is no negotiation because it would cutting in to their budget. I had a feeling that they are more numbers driven than anything!

Interview Question – Questions were the basic generic "Tell me about a time", read straight from the computer screen, I struggled to get through it because it was aggravating, VERY dull and impersonal! That should have been my first clue.   Answer Question

Community Sales Director Interview

Community Sales Director

I applied online - interviewed at Atria Senior Living in October 2013.

Interview Details – Answered online Ad, Had a phone interview with the recruiter Tom, then proceeded to have interview date set up. Met with the ED and Regional Sales Director (3 hrs). Tom called me that evening and said how impressed everyone was with me. Several weeks passed and Tom called me to meet with one of the VP's. Had an hour meeting and VP said I would hear back in a few days. I called Tom and he said that the VP was very impressed and I was the #1 Candidate. A month has gone by and I see the job posting no longer exists and no one has gotten back to me.

Sales Director Interview

Sales Director
Willow Glen, CA

I applied through a recruiter - interviewed at Atria Senior Living in August 2012.

Interview Details – Odd. They kept losing sales directors and they wouldn't give me a clear answer as to why that was. Group "interview" was a surprise. They pull one person at a time out of the room to interview. Very strange

Interview Question – Asking me to role play a selling situation with a potential resident's family member before I had learned anything about the senior sales industry or what the particular community (facility) had to offer (other than the general information I'd gotten from my research.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Hands down, the worst experience at a job I've ever had. IMPOSSIBLE demands, passive aggressive management, micromanagement, useless..waste of time conference calls regularly and the expectation that you were on call 24/7 (which was not what they tell you in the interview). I have been in some TOUGH work environments and worked in very high pressured settings but this job was too much. At the end, I was coming home in tears every day. That is NOT like me. I'm very professional. I left on my own after being ambushed about my "attitude". Ridiculous! DO NOT WORK HERE!

Community Sales Director Interview

Community Sales Director
Daly City, CA

I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at Atria Senior Living in October 2012.

Interview Details – Got a phone call as a result of job posting on Indeed.com. There was a phone interview and it looks like what they were looking for was that you had a previous job that had a very difficult sales experience that you overcame.

Interview Question – Although I was able to overcome sales objections, it seemed like they expected to hear of one that was extremely difficult to overcome.   Answer Question
