Interviewed May 2008 (took a day)
I walked into the store and stated that they needed more counter personnel here, and the manager stated that I could apply on-line and give them a hand, so I did. After a few weeks, I figured that I did not meet the standards of the company, and went on with my life. Then I got the call, and set-up an interview date and time. The interview was a breeze, especially since I have been previously employed with AutoZone. I was asked basic identification / troubleshooting questions; like what components are involved in the air conditioning system, braking system, manual transmission, etc... I was rehired after the interview.

Interviewed Aug 2010 in Louisville, KY (took 2 weeks)
First, I walked in and dropped my resume (a very well thought out and well designed one) to numerous different stores around my city, I was then instructed to apply online. I was contacted by the DM and we setup an interview for the next day. I then interviewed with him. It took a few days for him to get back with me. From there I initially was still interested in the position but needed better pay and the DM told me he would have to get back with me. It was about a week and I finally got the call back from him and we were able to settle on the next offer.

Interviewed Aug 2009 (took 4 weeks)
I applied online and I was called back a week later for a informational/phone interview. I was then called back a few days later to setup an onsite interview. I interviewed with the hr manager and then I had a group interview with the distribution center manager and the engineering manager. I thought both interviews went well, but I didnt receive a job offer. I received a rejection letter about a week later, I find that more professional than companies who say they are gonna call you back or email you and let you know if you got the job and they end up not doing either, so you end up calling them a few times before you figure out on your own you didnt get the job based on them not returning your calls.

Interviewed Aug 2010 in Reno, NV (took a day)
I was asked about my current skills relevant to automotive repair, work ethic, and how I would respond to an upset customer or rectify the a negative situation. I also had to show up to the location multiple time just to have the store manager give me excuses about how the online application system has been down for the past week.

Interviewed Jan 2008 (took 3+ weeks)
Three sessions consisting of 2 to 4 people each. Will face peers, Sr peers, multiple managers, hiring manager, director. Wide spectrum of questions including probes on how you would handle a pending project, past challenges. Proud to be a company of thrift. IT spending below retail average. Benefits weak, vacation below average, pension program lacking - using 401(k), ESOP, Stock Options required to have a shot at retirement. Highly political organization and is run from the middle not from the top. Focus still on trends of 1980-1990 when many started there. Nice office, many broken or damaged chairs for employees, office supplies rationed, a culture of thrift.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Placerville, CA (took a day)
The interview was more about the company and what it can offer (except a decient pay plan). It seemed to just be about getting a warm body in a position as long as your physically able and could pass the background test. I did not get a good professional feeling from the hiring manager.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
Lack of pay and the sence of a "glass ceiling". The reviews withing this website were overwelming as well compared to other companies as well.
