Interviewed Nov 2010 in Montreal, QC (Canada) (took 1+ week)
There was a total of 4 interviews; 3 phone interviews and 1 in person
1. personality/career goals - they try to see if you can be a consultant and if you can fit with the Avanade culture
2. Skills 1: they basically assess your knowledge on the technologies. It's a long interview and answers are often simple (either you know the answer or you don't)
3. Skills 2: they try to confirm your weaknesses/strong points from skills 1
4. In person interview to make the final decision - usually with senior leadership

Interviewed May 2010 (took 2 days)
If there was a project lined up that matches your skill, the interview process would be very short. Otherwise, expect to go through multiple rounds of interview from various HR and technical managers.
All the interviewers were respectful and posses deep knowledge on their interview topic.
Interview Questions
Negotiation Details
They would nickel and dime you for a few thousand dollars. Be firm on what you want. If you are the right fit, you will get it.
Other Details
I got the interview through an Employee Referral and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview, a 1:1 Interview, a Drug Test and a Background Check.

Interviewed Feb 2011 in Seattle, WA (took 5 days)
The initial stages were not of the ordinary - responding to the job ad, submitting resume through their website. Gaining an interview was certainly helped by knowing current employees, but I was contacted within a week, and interviewed around a week later. Interview questions were very focused, buy also some general chit chat - a hard working crew from what I gathered, but didn't seem to take themselves too seriously. I met with three of the team members separately for about 30 minutes each, and with one finance exec, who led the team.

Interviewed Jun 2011 (took 3 weeks)
1st call was from senior recruiter who was great to talk to you. He just asked about the basic information.
he mentioned that another recruiter will get in touch with me.
Next week i had an email from this 2nd recruiter who was checking my availability from a initial phone screen for technical skills.
I got the interview call from one of the consultant at Avanade, the interview went very well with him. He asked me a lead or senior Business Analysis level questions. But i felt very positive after talking to him.
After 2 days i again got an email from the 2nd recruiter asking my availability for 2nd phone interview.
I was scheduled for the next phone interview and got a call from Business Analysis - Manager at Avanade. The questions he asked very completely different than the previous interview questions. I got confuse at that point of time for the position they are interviewing me for.
i got a feel that i have 50-50 chance to be selected for the next interview.
However at the end he mentioned me that i did well and recruiter will be soon in touch with me.
After that, recruiter never wrote to me or called me. I wrote her but there was no response. So i guess my bad luck.

An Avanade recruiter found my resume on monster and called me to schedule two interviews : one with an RH person and an other with a manager. I later had a final interview with a business unit director.

Interviewed Feb 2010 in New York, NY (took 2 weeks)
Technical Screening was good. Two phone screening each for about an hour. People interviewed were nice and friendly and professional. They tried to get a feel of knowledge & concept not the syntax or version.
If your answer/response is not exactly what they have in mind, I found them helping and not intimidating. I contrast it with one of the interview I had at one of the huge financial institution in NYC where interviewers were way too junior, with hard to understand accent, stuck in the weeds and kept splitting the hairs. Right in the interview I fired them (mentally) and lost my interest in the job they had.
Executive I met was professional (stiff neck) but pleasant. There we did not talk technical or the money. Had a coffee and discussions on technology trends, IT service industry and Avanade’s positioning.

HR person, though nice but scattered brain and had no leverage and offered no room to negotiate. Sounded like HR runs a formula and formula sets the price (salary). I was ready to walk away and she had to get exec approvals for few grand.

My advice- There is no love. Know the market and your value. You would have not made to this stage if there is no demand and they won’t hesitate letting you go if they cannot keep you billable.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Houston, TX (took 4+ weeks)
I interviewed with 3 different people via phone and then a one-on-one with a Regional Manager. An initial phone interview (non-technical) and then two technical interviews with two different technical people. I did well on the phone interviews and when I had a teleconference call with the Regional Manager for about an hour, I felt that he was expecting someone younger and I received an email indicating that it may take several months before an appropriate position was available and that they would keep in touch. I never heard from them again.
I saw the same position posted the next day again. They also use a background company that asks questions that would definitely indicate your age (such as date of college graduation, date of birth, etc.) which I don't answer prior to an offer since a company might have a propensity to discriminate against certain protected classes. I suspect that they might be one of these types of companies.
