Interviewed Apr 2012 (took 2 weeks)
Avanade approached me unsolicited about a PM position. I was told at the beginning there would be 1 phone interview to assess my technical skills/knowledge, a second phone interview assessing how I handle specific client scenarios, and then, if I passed those two, a final face-to-face or Skype interview. I successfully completed the first two rounds and was told by the second interviewer and the coordinator that I was cleared for the final interview. I began working with a coordinator to schedule the final interview. Suddenly I received a form rejection email from Avanade. Assuming there was a glitch, I reached out to the Recruiting Manager. She initially tried to schedule a phone conversation to discuss the rejection email. I asked her to just tell me what was going on. She informed me that I didn't have experience with Earned Value, which in the past was optional but is now an absolute must have. Based on this, they turned me down.
This showed an amazing lack of coordination and professionalism on Avanade's part. How can you interview candidates for a position without being clear on all the requirements beforehand? If they treat their candidates this way, how do they treat their employees? Run away from this company unless you want to be jerked around like I was.

Interviewed Feb 2012 in Chicago, IL (took 2 weeks)
First, a recruiter contacted me and explained what the company does and what they were looking for. Second, there was a technical phone screen for an hour about past experience.
Third, again a phone interview with higher level covering different topics.
Finally, face to face interview for an hour.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Houston, TX (took 1 week)
Avanade contacted me about a position as a project manager. I told the internal recruiter I was not a good match because I have no experience on the Microsoft Platform. She said they wanted to speak to me because I have the SDLC experience they wanted. Next phone interview went great, had a really good feeling. Second phone interviewer never called me, so I called the recruiter and she said the interviewer reported that I said I didn't want to interview and that he was very upset, and was high in the company and this was not good for me. I told her my phone never rang, he must have dialed the wrong number. He evidently did not want to admit he dialed the wrong number and refused to speak with me again. Another interviewer called me the next day, equally high on the org chart - and we had a great discussion. I was told later that day they decided to pass on me because I did not have specific Microsoft experience. I told him, "you mean what I told you in the beginning?" and he replied, "Yes, and I even see here in the notes where you told them you did not feel you were a good match". Between the disconnect between recruiters and the one guy who threw a temper tantrum at being discovered that he dialed the wrong number - this company scared the hell out of me. If they can't get the interview process right, what else are they messed up on? When they told me they would not be advancing, I was actually relieved, However, I will give them good marks for communicating at the end of the process, it certainly wasn't the latter interviewers, it was the initial screener.

Interviewed Mar 2010 (took 5 weeks)
The process is longer than what I am used to. They are owned by Mircorsoft and Accenture. from what I was told their hiring process is much like Accentures with multiple interviews.
1) Phone screen with Recruiter
2) General Experience with Manager
3) Technical interview with Manager / Director
4) In Person interview with team member of the the project you would be hired for
