I gave a 45 minutes presentation on my research and conducted a Q&A section for 15 minutes. Then I was interviewed by 8 scientist and one HR representative.

I met the representatives at my school career fair and I talked with them for about 5 minutes about the positions. Make sure you know a bit about their company. I had a resume prepared and gave it to them. They said they would contact me later if I got an interview. Got a call a week later and scheduled an interview. They mainly asked questions about how my past experiences may help me in this position.

When being interviewed by BASF, what's primarily asked are behavior based questions. You really have to be quick on your feet to think of something to say and answer things like, "Describe a time when..." or "Explain how you handled this type of situation..."
It really isn't that horrible of an interview, but the interviewers are looking for specific situations you were in and how you handled yourself or how you handled the situation itself.

First contact thru headhunting --> very good and professional experience
line manager contact went well, good rapport
following step was assessment & HR contacts. --> nice learning & challenging process. (took all day)
Final interview with VP showed a certain fear for 'career oriented' MBA profiles --> no match.
The fact that the assessment centre was already planned in before VP go, was kind of weird, especially if in the end the 'click' with VP does not work out.

had phone interview with HR; followed by phone inteview with hiring manager; followed with in person inteview by group at ~1 hour each for half day interview. Thought the interview went well. Had another phone interview, which seemed to go well. Recieved an email boiler plate rejection.

I applied online and was given a phone interview. The phone interview questions were easy, but the HR person did not have technical knowledge which made the interview difficult. Then I was called in for a interview, I thought things went very well. Each answer I gave they said was good. But I was not given the position and a reason was not given either.

I applied for a new internal position, where I would transition between an R&D role into a sales/marketing technical service role. I first had to convince HR that despite my experience in this new industry I came armed with a skill set that would allow me to do well. HR showed passed my resume and references onto the hiring manager. My first interview was with the hiring manager. A few days later this followed with 4 separate interviews from individuals within the group and a further HR interview. Each interview was 45 minutes in duration, standard interview questions were asked.
